You can’t really argue against the consistent significance of it in the BCS+ Playoff era

Last year was the first time in almost 20 years that the national champion wasn’t Alabama, Auburn, or a team that had to beat at least one of the two along the way

2023 Michigan beat Alabama in CFP semi-final
2022 UGA beat Auburn in reg season
2021 UGA beat Auburn, lost to Bama in SECCG, then won in title game rematch
2020 Bama Natty
2019 LSU beats both in reg season
2018 Clemson beats Bama in title game
2017 Bama Natty
2016 Clemson beats Bama in title game
2015 Bama Natty
2014 Ohio St beats Bama in CFP semi-final
2013 FSU beats Auburn in title game
2012 Bama Natty
2011 Bama Natty
2010 Auburn Natty
2009 Bama Natty
2008 Florida beats Auburn in reg season and Bama in SECCG
2007 LSU beats both in reg season
2006 Florida loses to Auburn but beats Bama in reg season

2005 Texas played neither

Bowl cut was for other states

Bama Bangs do not go well with the "mop top" or "Moe Cut"

It was a big deal for Bama to leave the flat top behind, let em have their own thing.

After going to the papa johns bowl in Birmingham 16 years ago... the state of Alabama doesn't need a major bowl game.

Don’t blame your pathetic football pedigree on the yellow hammer state. Like you were winning bowls before then.

Because, in the middle of winter, you are basically talking about Mobile, Alabama. Which hosts a bush league bowl every year.

When Nebraska was a terrifying power house nobody was pushing for the Corn Bowl. People want to go somewhere nice and hopefully not too cold for their bowl game.

Always nice when LSU fans admit they owe everything memorable about their state to New Orleans.

Bama would rather demolish teams in their home state. You know, like the 21-0 Sugar Bowl
.

There was one year where the Papa John’s Bowl ran out of pizza.

Man i was mainly talking shite because im a Tennessee fan and the subject was regarding alabama. Yall would do the same. Truthfully I don't hate the state of Alabama and if you have any interest in outdoor scenic type things it's nice. I just went to hoover and played ross bridge and it was beautiful. That being said I would guess that most of that number 14 ranking is gulf shores because unless you're an outdoorsman Huntsville, birmingham, Montgomery or mobile are not now nor will likely ever be tourist hot spots.

I grew up half the time in Alabama, half the time in Tennessee so I never make fun of Tennessee the state.

I currently live in Florida, but Tennessee is probably my 2nd choice of states to live in.
