apparently down to

Brian O'Conner (Virginia head coach)
Erik Bakich (Clemson head coach)
Dan Fitzgerald (Kansas head coach)
Mark Wasikowski (Oregon head coach)

Lot of smoke around Fitzgerald. It will be interesting how his team does in Fayetteville.

O’Conner was putting out feelers to get UVA to commit the resources they promised him last year but didn’t follow through with.

I think y’all end up with Fitzgerald or Bakich

Charlottesville, VA to Starkville, MS ?!!? No fricking way. O'Connor probably has a beach house on Chesapeake Bay. But you're telling me that guy is going to leave Northern VA to move to flat arse, red dirt Starkville, MS.

Why has MSU decided they're too good for Butch Thompson ? He's about to take his Nationally Seeded Auburn team to Omaha for the 3rd time in 7 years. Butch makes 1.3 mil a year after bonuses. Bulldogs can easily match that. He's also from Aberdeen, MS so living in a shithole like Clay or Oktibbeha County would be nothing new. I honestly think Butch would assemble the best pitching staff in the country in Starkville in under 4 years.

I still have no clue why when these lists come out, that AU's coach is never on there. What he's done there is impressive. Doesn't he also have ties to Miss St?

How do you know they haven’t put feelers out and were told no? Butch is probably happy on the plains. The pressure to win in baseball at State is much higher than Auburn. He hasn’t made post season twice in the last 5 years. He has a .451 record in SEC play at AU as well.

Did UVA commit to those or no?

Bakich should be the play here, imo

State fans won’t admit it, but the shithole that is the golden triangle will always be a factor.

For a baseball coach? Not even slightly. I agree it has an impact for Basketball and Football coaches. It's so clear who did and didn't grow up around the sport. These guys and their wives don't do anything outside of baseball. They are a different dynamic than the other sports.

O’Connor is widely considered to be the first choice but he may turn it down.

Beyond that is anyone’s guess.

I like Bakich a lot but apparently his buyout is a problem.

Was and Fitzgerald seem like the two most realistic candidates. Of the two Was is clearly the more proven guy. But there are some intriguing things about Fitzgerald. Curious to see how his team fares in Fayetteville.

I would take Fitzgerald over Wasikowski.

It’s definitely not some Mecca of prosperity, but I think the negativity is a little overblown, especially in terms of coaching baseball there. These guys are paid enough money to have another house anywhere in the world to spend their off season time (ie Kiffin, Leach, etc)

The biggest factor (by a long shot) is how much $ schools are willing to put towards the sport, especially with a sport like baseball which is typically 3rd (at best) in order of importance with college athletic departments.

Instead of more cowbell, it should be more gas station chicken on a stick. Like Oxford isn't fricking hick central.

There’s buzz coming from both Mark Wasiolowski from Oregon and Dan Fitzgerald from Kansas. The big 10 and big 12 coaches of the year. I’d be happy with either of these guys.

I just don’t see state hiring a 60 year old Skip Johnson.
