Sounds like the dad of a kid with a 16.50 ERA and a .333 BA against.

Mainieri is washed up, but I don't remember hearing any stories like this when he was at LSU. Most of his former players at LSU seem to respect him.

His kid only pitched 6 innings all year

Sounds like dad is venting frustration over attending games and his son rarely pitched.
He could be totally correct about the coaching, but that is a post born from the "my son is better than this and the coaches ruined his season, they ruined his draft position".

Is that really Tanner? Why tf would he respond to that and spread even further when he was the root cause. Wow.

#LANK in his profile suggests to me that it is not the real Ray Tanner

I can tell you that when smoke was gone and manieri came in, he was not liked by quite a few of Smoke's players and their families/parents. He pushed them away and did show favoritism in treatment and in play time. I guess it was his way of trimming the fat. Most of the disharmony was pretty much kept behind closed doors. Social media was just making its entrance then
Probably something similar going on here, just now we have a lot more avenues for disgruntled parents and fans to speak out.

I know several guys who played for Maineri at LSU, he's pretty well known to be a douchebag to his players. Definitely not a "players' coach".

PM is old school and his dad was same way
Now you have players you have to coddle and with transfer portal that method has to be adjusted or you won't survive long in this landscape
Bottom line - if PM doesn't do a better job of bringing in players he's screwed and Rooney is awful at pitching coach
I was at a game the first year the new LSU stadium opened and was in a suite when Bertman came in our suite during the fifth inning and took the whole suite on a tour of the area leading up to the dugout during the game
LSU was playing MSU that day and PM had just pulled the pitcher from the game and he was ripping him in the tunnel to the dugout right as we were walking up because he didn't have a good outing
The pitcher was Jordan Rittiner from Jesuit and after he went into the nearby weight area to loosen his arm up with all of us watching, I'm sure he felt bad

One of the players Mainieri tried to run off his first year in Baton Rouge was Louis Coleman. I think he pulled his scholarship when he arrived at LSU. We all know that Coleman was a very good pitcher for us. I never thought he was a good coach.

Maybe he feels like his kid should have pitched more?
Of course, EVERY dad feels that way. Even the ones for little leaguers who can't throw think their kid is the next Roger Clemens.

I’d give it another year before hitting the panic button

What a stupid thing to post on the internet. You just burned bridges to that program forever and made your son seem like a poor loser.

Nobody goes along with that old school, hard arse mentality when you’re retirement age and just produced the worst season in school history
