Who is the best player from your school, and would they be your starter today?

For Bama, I think it would be Cornelius Bennet, and I’d love his 20+ sacks right about now, headed into the season.

Patrick Willis, and yes.

All due respect to Biscuit but Derek Thomas would be the best ever from Bama

You'd take Bennett over Derrick Thomas?

Cam Newton and I think the answer for literally any school would be yes unless you mean in their current physical form.

Kellen Winslow could play today, but he's an arse so I won't pick him. Roger Wehrli, because the NFL needs more white cornerbacks.

Why is it not surprising that no one has ever heard of the best guy from Missouri.

They were both great, but I would take Thomas in his prime.
Thomas had 52 sacks while at Alabama. He had 27 sacks in only 12 games his Sr. year at Alabama. Against Penn St that year, he had 3 sacks, a safety & 9 QB hurries. He was a one man wrecking crew.

Herschel Walker at the height of his college form, would be ANY team's starter today.

I would take Derrick Thomas over Cornelius Bennett. They were similar size but Thomas was faster, running a 4.58 40. Bennett had 21 sacks in his 4 year career at Alabama. Derrick Thomas had 27 sacks his senior season.

While close, the answer is still Bo Jackson and yes.

In their prime, why would any “best player ever” not start?
Or do you mean would they actually start today at the age they are? 2025 Derrick Thomas would not start as he died in a tragic traffic accident in 2000. But 1988 Derrick Thomas would start on any college football team ever.

Burrow/Daniels would be the obvious answers for LSU but Tyrann Mathieu was a human highlight reel from the moment he stepped on the field. He had a great want to take your fricking football. ESPN was all-in on the Badger train for the Heisman and then poof . . . up in smoke.

Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase too.
