If we don’t attend games the money runs out and NIL goes poof.
This of course means you can’t watch it on tv either
Edit: I know how NIL works, but if no one is watching or spending then there’s no benefit for a business to pay an athlete to advertise their brand.

NIL comes from private donations and not from gate revenue or concessions.

New rev split comes from tickets

there’s already a league that works like you are all pining for, it’s called the Ivy League.
no one watches it.
no one watches it.

This is rich coming from a Bama fan. In case you haven’t noticed a lot of fanbases have been taking your advice for decades. Now that the system doesn’t help your team you think it’s a problem. It’s just hilarious. Other fanbases will grow even as fanbases like Bama stagnate because you guys can’t handle 3-4 loss seasons. It’s quite funny.

Ticket prices are already pushing many to this.

Heaven forbid we force college students to play college football.

NIL needs to be exactly that. The problem is these ridiculous collectives.

It’s when schools have to start dropping the price on their private suites that they start worrying. Those aren’t coming down soon at any big program.

I get what you’re saying
But this board is the epicenter of college baseball, so it may not be that persuasive
Low quality high drama sports are kind of our thing

EXACTLY!
My thought is that NIL needs to be replaced with a "Stipend' for all student athletes, shared equally from the Athletic department. A maximum not to exceed number for all Div 1 athletes to help make it equal between schools. Each school supports what sports they can, so paying players equal between sports will equalize things. The Collectives, or any similar form need to be outlawed. NIL may still remain, however, each player will be required to sign individual contracts with a business venture.
An example; Ewers could get a paid stipend from UTx. but still be able to make money selling Dr. Pepper or pushing Lamborghinis, etc.
Thee above thought may just be the equivalent of making the student athlete employees. Could not allow them to negotiate wages individually as this is the Collectives all over again. They'd need to be a union.

That’ll be easy for me! I rarely go to games anymore anyway. Too much hassle and too long a drive.

That's not how it works. Most tickets are bought by businesses anyway now, average fans aren't going to many games or giving to NIL.

It is amazing how so called fans still do not know how NIL works.

Yes. Good idea. Bama should try this out first. Report back in a year to tell us how it went.

I know how NIL works, but if no one is watching then business don’t profit by using Athletes to advertise.
It isn’t that hard to figure out

Although correct, let fan support dry up and see what happens.

How in the heck do you outlaw a collective (whatever that is defined as) from giving someone money? The NCAA had rules about unauthorized benefits for decades and no school in the top 15 ever stopped doing it.
It sounds great to say Bama and Tulane have to give a player the same amount of stipend. The reality is bagmen/collectives will never not overpay for a stud player as long as people care about winning,
How do you guys not understand this basic tenet of human behavior? What most if you are trying to say is to go back to a system where all the money is done in the dark so you can go back to pretending these players care about your school and your wins are because your coaches are genius’s and it has nothing to do with money.
