Auburn was nonexistent as a basketball program. Now we’re in the tournament every year and have gone to the Final Four twice in six years. He’s one of the best of all time.

It helps ease the pain a little from sucking at football now.

It really is. Thank god he's at Auburn and not UGA.

It truly is. Had you told me that Auburn would be competing for, and winning SEC titles, and making a couple Final Fours, in the midst of the Barbee era...I probably would have called the cops on you for being completely out of your head.

Fans of other teams can say whatever they want about losing to Yale, or Bruce losing early in the NCAA tourney. I'll just keep smiling because this is heaven compared to some of the basketball I've witnessed in my lifetime as an Auburn fan. Even off the court, Auburn is in the midst of recruiting battles, and winning some, against the likes of Kansas, Duke, UNC, UK...This shite is like a dream to most of us.

Hats off to Auburn for making the biggest no brainer move in giving him a chance. Every other AD demonstrating they are overpaid goons.

We had 98-99 and 2003 Sweet Sixteen that I can remember. Highlight after that was an NIT run under Lebo. I would go to games without tickets because someone would inevitably hand you some if you stood in line at the ticket window. We were horrible.

Amazing where Basketball is now in the state of Alabama! Good luck in the final 4!

We also had a Sweet 16 in 1985 and an Elite 8 in 1986.

That said, I agree with the implication that Auburn basketball has historically been in the bottom half (if not quadrant) of the conference.

Here's to Bruce:

He was at Tennessee when I lived in Knoxille. He was the only thing "bearable" about Tennessee sports. Always liked how fundamentally sound his teams are and how hard they work.

For sure, I just wasn’t old enough to remember those.

You have got to be wondering if Tennessee (even as good as they've been) has to be wondering "What If" when it comes to Pearl.

I'm way old school- I remember Tommy Joe Eagles coming out to talk to the students when they were standing in line to get season tickets for football- just trying to drum up business and butts in seats. The old arena was barely half full unless we played Shaq and LSU or Mashburn and UK. It's amazing to see what's been happening.

This is generous. We were in the bottom 1-2 teams. We really only had a few successful years and Barkley/Person before Bruce. And that was like 100 years of Bball history lol.

It helps when you have a bunch of 25 year olds on the team.

Auburn Football won’t be down for much longer with the way Freeze has stacked talent from high school and the portal.

He's the best coach in the conference. He's proven it twice now. Just glad he left Tennessee.
