Why Clemson and Florida State should cancel their annual in-state rivalry games
Interesting article.

Georgia Tech should too, after all, wouldn't want their playoff chances...

I just want it to be known that this comes from a Clem U fanboy writer - it's not from anyone associated with - or covering - The University of South Carolina -
so for the record - it's from someone on the orange side of things that thinks Dabo Tech should end the blood feud with Carolina -
and here's the best part -

Andrew Boardwine is the Site Expert for Saturday Blitz, covering all things College Football year-round. Andrew has covered College Football for more than seven years, beginning as a contributor and eventual Site Expert for Rubbing the Rock, where he has covered National Championships and College Football Playoff. Andrew is a member of the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and has been featured in many notable publications, including Fox Sports, SCNow.com, and Inside the Magic. Outside of writing, Andrew enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee and serves as the Worship Leader at his church.

Sec added A&M and Missouri as well as two other teams to help
legitimize them, and now LSU won’t play Auburn as much.
Other rivalries that made the sec aren’t yearly, either.
It’s sad that the ACC/SEC rivalries are even being considered to go away but this is the new landscape of watered down college football.
College football needs to be regional. No one cares about driving to games they don’t want to watch anyway.

its a lil bro thing. 74-43 record will do that to a man
and before someone gets upset, GT is very much our lil bro with a very similar record of 72-41

In fairness, these 2 games COULD BE conf. games in the future.

Virginia and South Carolina, might be the only states where the aggy school is the dominant football team.

I doubt it. FSU will pussy out again and go to the Big 10.

I’d like that but think about Florida.
Florida and Georgia have more rivalries than any other team in the country and you’re adding one more team to the conference.
—-Arch rivals for UF:
Uga
FSU
—-Decades worth of hatred:
Auburn
Tennessee
—-Recent good rival for last 30 years:
LSU
South Carolina
Now they get to sacrifice one of their bitter hatred games (fsu or uga) so they can fly to Columbia Missouri every other year for an SEC+ 11am game.
Conference is watered down and needs historic/regional rivalries to return.
It’s almost like we need to grow more, so we can regionalize again. Makes no sense.
Additionally think about Uga if we added fsu and Clemson.
—-ugas arch rivals are:
AU
GT
Florida
—-Decades worth of hatred:
Tenn
Clemson
Alabama
South Carolina

Cancel away motherfrickers. They tried to get the state govt involved just to get a game with Florida when they started letting boys attend FSU. Join the Big 10 and have fun flying into the Great Lakes region for all the winter sports. Softball and baseball should be fun up there in March and even April.

We better never take the Clemson game off of our schedule.

Apparently FSU was actually coed until the legislature made it the girls school in 1905. They actually had a football team for 3 years before they became a girl’s school.
It’s pretty obscure history and I first read about it a few months ago.
But, frick it. As far as I’m concerned FSU always was a girl’s school, and still is a girl’s school.

If FSU, UF, UGA, GT, USC, or Clemson tried to get out of their OOC in state rivalry, you'd see the State Legislatures step in to keep the game the same way the Alabama legislature did to get Auburn and Alabama to play.
ETA- I don't know if Louisville has enough pull at the Commonwealth level to have the same impact on UK/UL. Maybe a bourbon baw can give their 2 cents...

Yeah...Truly "notable" publications.
