I get people panicking an all that after the Florida game but I will say this wholeheartedly...we only lost because Grant Nelson got hurt. When he didn't come out in the second half...our guys were beat.
Florida had no answer for Grant Nelson! Condon, Haugh, Handgloten, or the other big couldn't stop him!
He was the best player on the floor in his 10 minutes.
If we get an aggressive Grant Nelson moving forward...Alabama will be in the final four.

Question is health. How is the knee?

Im totally on board with what you are saying. Our rebounding went to pot without his length coupled with Cliff. Our defense just couldn't hold up without him and Cliff together balancing out. We missed a LOT of opportunities in the first half to be well in front. Florida is a tank and top to bottom they are one of the better teams in college basketball history. The floodgates can open fast when they get up and honestly they can embarrass anyone in the nation and make you question your team once they get rolling. Alabama was coming off a great win at Auburn and a dismantling of UK. Alabama is a very good team that played a very bad 2nd half.

Nah..if we would’ve lost by 6 or 7 I might could agree with you. But we got boatraced in that 2nd half. He played when they beat us in Tuscaloosa. Would it have been closer? Sure, but Florida is just a bad matchup and a better team

Florida is the only team that legit scares me. They're not unbeatable, not they're a very balanced team that can beat you from any part of the court.

Florida is a bad matchup for us because they can switch everything and not get cooked by guards taking it to the rim. They press the 3pt line and stay attached to shooters much longer than most teams can because of their length and good team defense. Golden isn’t some wizard with a magic strategy. He just has a mix of players that is really well matched to our mix of players the last two seasons.

I love sports terms sometimes.

I agree 100% but somehow the "Basketball afficionados" here keep downplaying it. They somehow think the other guys will step up when clearly there's no evidence of it happening. Just look at the second half against UF. They wouldn't have won at AU either. Bama can get to the Sweet 16 without Grant. It's going to be tough, but they are not beating Duke (who I believe will be in the Elite 8) without him there and healthy.

No one knows yet. Hopefully at the very least he can come back for the sweet 16 if we were to make it that far.

That's where you are wrong.
Grant Nelson was a different player in those two games.
Go back and watch full game highlights.

Florida guards made extremely tough shots.
Step back 3 with a hand in their face, sidestep 3 with a hand in their face, a fadeaway with a hand in their face, a couple of bank shots...
Meanwhile..
Mark Sears missed 4 WIDE OPEN THREES BADLY.
LaBaron Philon missed everything!
Cliff Omoruyi played like he was 5'6, a buck twenty.
Florida isn't much better than Bama...they just tougher.

Yeah, I watched the first half and Bama had a four-point lead and seemed in control of the game but kept doing the usual stupid stuff that they've been known to do. Dumb and ill-advised shots, turnovers, not hustling for rebounds, missing free throws and of course missing open shots badly. Florida was able to turn a deficit into a lead by halftime.
And Grant who was one of the only bright spots couldn't go in the second half. It was all downhill from there. Florida is a great team and a bad matchup for Alabama, but Bama in the second half would have probably been beaten by any team playing good defense, making good shots, and getting to the FT line.

They're just tougher than Alabama.
Grant Nelson & Mo Dioubate handled business...heck Jarin Stevenson played decently but everybody else was TRASH!
And like I said...Mark Sears missed WIDE OPEN THREE'S!

They were also allowed to foul us like crazy. Over the back so many times.

You are correct Joka.
Grant can drag their big men out to the 3pt line and shoot it, drive it or even post up. That created problems for UF that went unnoticed.
When that threat went away, they went back to clogging the lane and slapping our layups off the glass.
