Why Is The Big 10 So Much Better At Defense?

It started last year with Michigan absolutely throttling everyone on their way to the the NC
We're seeing the same thing this year. Notre Dame (they're virtually a Big 10 school) dominated Georgia defensively
Michigan once again dominated Alabama defensively
Offensively I'd say we're about even - maybe the SEC is slightly better.
But their defenses are much much better.
The question is, why?
Is it purely to do with scheme?
When they face an SEC team it seems like they're able to get to the QB every snap
When they blitz it's as if the SEC has never seen a blitz before.
Wtf is going on?

Notre Dame isn't in the Big10.
And the best defenses have been in the SEC for years and years.

ND is not B10 but IMO, the SEC and I know Texas has huge unathletic OL that cannot move quick enough to handle stunts by faster defensive lineman and backers

Well the reason they beat our arse is because we run a simple arse fast offense and they have the athletes to cover 2 deep. Their offense whipped our arse because if your remotely complicated we don't adapt well. That being said their players are also alot better than ours. Their 2nd string rb was 1st team all sec last year

Coaching. Outside Smart, Kiffin, Drinkwitz, Sarkisian, the conference is full of mid and arse coaches.

They are not overrated like a bunch of fake arse teams in the SEC.

Did Notre Dames schedule change because they were practically an ACC team.

Because the sec is focused on offense

Georgia just lost to a team that doesn't have the ability to really throw the football. However they beat yall twice. Is your offense that bad?

This is a very recent development. As recently as 2022 the SEC was head & shoulders above everyone else.
This shift started last year.

Not when they are healthy like now.

Michigan beat Bama in the Rose because their center couldn't snap the ball all of a sudden. Maybe it's the mowers in Pasadena.

Nah basically the entire first half they sacked the QB on every play

Our offense is still on crutches though just by virtue of losing our 1st and 2nd string running backs in camp before the season. Wisner is good and would start for a lot of teams but he exacerbates our slow developing run plays by dancing around behind the line if there isn't a wide open hole for him to run through. Then you have Blue who is fast but he is constantly putting the ball on the ground. The Texas offense is 'run to set up the pass' and when you struggle to run the ball, it puts more pressure on the pass game ran by a stiff pocket passer who only excels at short and intermediate passes. It's why our redzone offense sucks.
If Manning plays like he did earlier this season + experience of another offseason and *knock on wood* our starting RBs can stay healthy in camp, our offense should take a big step up next year.

They have quietly been recruiting well on defense. I remember last year, we had the most sacks and tfl in the SEC, and we dwarfed Penn State’s numbers. I figured their numbers were inflated by playing in the Big 10, but after their run this year, idk.

Upgrades in speed and skill.

No elite QB in the SEC this year.

Which powerful offenses are in the Big 10? OSU, Oregon maybe?

They beat Bama in OT. Bama barely beat Georgia and had some very questionable calls to win that game. I think 2023 Georgia blows Michigan out last season. They had much better matchups and this whole non sense about how the Big10 is leaps and bounds better than everyone would be silenced

Georgia finished 120th in rushing this year and had their backup QB playing. Is this the barometer set for what determines a great defense? Lol
