For the love of god...Conference Champions only.

How many times do we need to have the same match ups and include these unworthy teams? So, we will watch UGA and UT play once again and call it a national championship? It all could have been over by now.

That's the point of the expanded playoffs. Let the best teams win. When it was 4 teams, it should have been conference champs only. It was not.
I like the expanded playoffs. I could be wrong but I don't think UGA gets by ND tomorrow night.

Much as I hate to say it, I don't either. Something is a little different in this georgia team and also this Notre dame team. Hell, I could be wrong but I just have that feeling that no SEC makes the title game.

Bro if Texas beats Ohio State and Georgia beats both Notre Dame & Penn State then fricking deal with it. Until then neither scenario seems likely unfortunately.

ND has a damn good defense. UGA with a QB making his first start not ideal. OSU looked good but was it bc they wanted revenge from losing to Oregon? Tennessee was able to move on them at times. Texas can be beat. I think the winner of Texas/OSU wins the Natty.

Idiotic. It should be done by ranking. Top 4, top 8, top 12, whatever.

Seeding is iffy. ASU was the 12 seed. There were not 11 better teams than ASU. There weren't 11 teams with better resumes either.
If you want to clean house, you need to get rid of preseason prejudice.

How many times was a conf. champ left out of the previous format?

That's kind of the problem. it feels like baseball with its double elimination method has it the closest to actually determining the best teams.
The point of the expanded playoffs should be earning your way in by winning your conference with some at large bids for special circumstances and to fill in the brackets. And everyone knows that the "best team" may be the one that had the luck that day.

Why do you want less football? I'm enjoying the heck out of the extra football. games.

Rankings become a big circle jerk as the season goes on.

They need to either do away with conference championship games, or incorporate those games into the first round of the playoffs.

Didn't Ohio State demolish the Big-10 champion yesterday? Are you saying Oregon should have been there and OSU shouldn't have?

The "best teams" were not represented in this playoff system.

That ridiculous. If it was conference champ only Ohio State would have been left out they are obviously one of the top two teams in the country. This needs to be a six team playoff. Take 6 best teams regardless of conf championship. Rank em 1-6 and that’s it.

Because you can't put 5 champions in 4 spots.
Also kept out independents and G5 teams that may have been worthy.
It always had to be 8 in order to get "conference champs" and all the "deserving" teams.

What are you talking about? This is parity, my friend.
Look at all of these competitive games and how the have nots finally have a shot.

We almost lost to plenty of junk teams over the last 2 years. Yours was just another one of em

Why is it college football fans are the only ones who say more teams for a playoff system to determine a champion is wrong?
No one has an issue that basketball and baseball have 64 teams to play in a tournament to decide the champion. No one has an issue that a team like Coastal Carolina can win a baseball championship or a team like Butler can come within a 3 point shot to beating Duke to win the national championship.
But in football only teams from the Big10 or SEC can win the championship. Only teams that win your conference can be eligible. I guess all playoff formats in all sports should go to only conference champions. The baseball and basketball tournaments only conference champions. NFL too. Only division winners. NBA and MLB. No more wild card teams.

What if Texas and Georgia meet again in NC? Georgia already beat Texas TWO times and we all know who's the better team. So what's the point of Texas and Georgia playing against each other for the 3rd time? Georgia already won best 2 out of (3) and even if Texas wins the 3rd match-up in NC, no one will view Texas as the true Champions.
