Would you believe half the teams in the CFP don't have a win against a ranked opponent.

HALF
Notre Dame, Texas, Indiana, Penn State, Boise State, and SMU have played a combined total of 65 games and not a win against a ranked opponent in the mix.

and some of you dipshits bitched about OM's weak OOC scheduling this year.
The CFP just cares about wins. Nothing else matters.

They’ve played some ranked opponents they just haven’t beaten any

Sounds like Georgia better win the entire thing

College football playoff is wide open .
Just about any of the 12 can win it .
Every team has a weakness .

No they really can’t. This is about Oregon, Texas, Georgia and Ohio State. If you removed SMU, ND and the other that haven’t beaten a ranked team and replaced them with OM, Bama and SC you’d have a scenario where there’s an outside chance those teams could pull an upset but with this field it’s just the four listed above.

None of those teams you mentioned are
unbeatable, far from it.
I watched Boise State take Oregon to the wire , at Oregon earlier in the season.

Oregon went undefeated and got absolutely fricked. With beck I think uga is the best team in playoffs. Without beck Oregon tenner and osu are the best teams and they all gotta play each other.

I think Boise State could be the dark horse. They only lost to Oregon by 3 in a shootout and they have Ashton Jeanty. He may be the best running back to come out of college since the early 80's.

The CFP isn't about determining a national champion. It's about bringing in more money for television and advertisers. It's got f***-all to do with anything actually related to the prestige of a natty.
The four team CFP was perfectly fine. The number one team was never going to be left out of the four teams selected for those slots. Expanding to twelve teams simply exposes the CFP for the joke it has become.

Even worse than that, Indiana, Clemson, and SMU combined played ONE regular season conference game against a ranked opponent and that was Indiana's 36-15 loss at Ohio State.
The only regular season in conference game either Clemson or SMU played all season was against one another in the ACC Championship game.
Indiana had only 1 win over a team that finished with better than a 6-6 record

I have not watched Boise nearly enough, but is their passing game good enough to where a team like Penn State can't just stack the box with 8 guys and dare them to beat them throwing the ball? I know it's easier said than done, but their athletes overall aren't top tier likely

Remember when Greg Byrne said leaving out Bama, Ole Miss, and South Carolina would affect future OOC scheduling decisions?
This is why.

If you don't play or win against a ranked opponent then it should be a higher % of the votes against teams that don't play or win against ranked opponents. SOS matters alot

Funny how I pointed out that Notre Dame's lone ranked win (Army) was getting wrecked by Navy it turned into a "but Alabama's not going to the playoffs" thread... by Auburn and LSU fans, most amusingly.
At least one fanbase hasn't been completely broken by Bama and can have a legit football discussion on here.

Easy schedules are pretty much why they are there. As long as rankings are just mostly "sort by loss column" that will continue.

CFP Championship probably needs to be broken down further... not by Division I, II, etc... but probably by having CFP Championships for the Power 5 and Group of 5, etc.

This what we wanted though.
Conference championships mean everything in every conference.

If you can't win your conference ...

Those of you who bitched about teams backdooring in (not all of you but a lot did during the glory years of cfb) ... well, you're getting what you asked for.
All of the talking heads are praising the current playoff system and the selections.
This shows how good of an idea it was.

Now, they'll talk incessantly ... verbal masturbation but ... to fewer people over time.
I personally find it hilarious.

I think they can pass enough to keep them honest.

The CFP only cares about whatever metric is the flavor of the year to get their desired teams into the Playoff.
All these idiots over-analyzing this one year are going to be disappointed when their team misses the playoff in 2026 all because of a weak SOS. It will happen.
The committee wanted 4 Big 10 and 4 SEC… but no more than that.
Ole Miss never had a chance because you were behind Bama in the pecking order.
Bama didn’t have a chance because the committee knew putting a team with a loss to 6-6 Vanderbilt AND a loss to 6-6 Oklahoma (by 3 scores!) would create an outcry that the sport was rigged.
Had Bama not caught every break ever…. Literally EVER… then they probably would have gotten in. But after 2011, 2017, 2023, etc. the committee had pulled Bama’s card one too many times to do it again with a resume THAT bad.
Believe me, the committee would have loved to have a 4th SEC team. But they can only go so far. Had Bama won just one of those games against .500 opponents, they would have easily gotten in.
