SEC Coach. "These players don't listen to coaching because they don't have to."

Listening to Finebaum this morning and he relayed an SEC coach or assistant coach told him the players don't listen to coaches because they don't feel they have to: they can hit the portal if they don't like the coaching.
I inferred it came from a Bama coach, but I may be mistaken on that. In truth it could have come from any coach on any team. We have a corner that has decided to portal out the week before the SECCG because he lost his starting spot. It's a sad commentary on what NIL and the Portal have done to this sport, and these kids are so foolish. They won't stay and get developed to a point where they can make a sustained living in the NFL. It's all about gimme the cash now.

Portal date needs to change. Also limit how many times a player can transfer.

Coaches need to quit whining about the portal. They make a shite ton and every coach is dealing with the same stuff. Adapt or die.

I noticed that none of the coaches said a word to any of the players right after the Bama/Auburn melee on the sideline. That would not have happened back in the day (just a couple of years ago lol).

Contracts solve everything. Each party will have clear expectations.

I disagree. Even in the NFL the players sign a contract that has a determined amount of time penned into the language. College players can pack their bags at any point and time and leave. There's a such thing as commitment and the word should mean something to the person giving it.

Nice to see that Sark went and got the players off the middle of the field and some of the leaders will pushing them away too. Aggies would have been pissed if we did that.
But I agree with the notion that you had 60 minutes to fight. Don’t start fighting now because the winning team is rubbing your face in it. (Though you could win with class too)

Be a fan of the school, not the players. The portal keeps things interesting, a team can suck this year and be decent next year. Keeps fan engaged.
