What's wrong with terriers? Here is a mixed breed Rat Terrier and Chihuahua when he was about 3 months old.



At this young age, he was sweet and playful and liked to cuddle, waddle, jump, eat snacks, preferably pig ears or hot dogs, sleep a lot, and run after a motorized rat toy among many other things.

As he grew into a full 10 pounds of absolute fricking terror and raw fury, he looked as he does in the image below.



At this adult stage, he was a vicious murderer that has killed probably 50 lizards, 4 or 5 chipmunks, at least a thousand grasshoppers, probably 500 crickets, chased 15 or 20 squirrels but due to trees always being nearby hasn't caught one yet.

He has ended 2 yellow finches that I know of, has given a house cat a mental affliction, will always listen to commands unless he is interested in something else, barks at all "outsiders" no matter how well he knows them until he realizes he knows them and acts normal, believes all socks should have holes in them, etc...

At his proudest moment, he crawled on the back of an armadillo and rolled off several times while trying to bite into it's shell, and bounced off a raccoon as he treed it for having the nerve to come into his backyard when he was out doing his bidness one night.

But, on the other hand, he is loyal, house-trained, friendly, incredibly intelligent and has learned over 15 tricks, including dancing on his hind legs, rolling over, jumps through a hoop, handstands on his front paws with back paws on wall and can ride a skateboard.

If you have patience, a terrier is the best breed of dog there is.

Used to be you could rent an elephant or two. In the 70's my frat did it every year in the lead up to our big fall party. Two elephants with two handlers for an afternoon of riding them around the yard then off to every sorority house so the girls could clamber up for a short ride. We'd get 5 or 6 people on at a time. And of course, had to designate some pledges to follow along with a shovel and a bucket for the inevitable "oops" moments.

There's currently a thread on the front page of the Tiger Rant where they are calling for their own fans to boo their own mascot in protest.

I think every team in the SEC should have a live mascot if they don’t already.
