Georgia and Bama sitting in a tree…

Said it already but this a great situation for UGA. Get to rest up during SECCG, host a home playoff game vs a 12th seed.
The SEC winner and UGA would still play the same number of games.
Edit: the loser would play an extra game if they still made the playoffs.

Being ranked 1 in the playoff rankings and having to be the 5 seed would be wild

If you don't make the SECCG, you'll get a nice tune-up game against Boise or the Big 12 runner-up. Could be worse.

I don't see anybody beating Oregon the rest of the year. Maybe they lose to OSU in the B1GCG? Maybe.

I don't want to go to the SEC CG unless we're sitting at 2 losses and need to play our way in to the playoff.

Perfect scenario is UGA wins out and no SECCG.

Lot of football left but assuming ATM and UGA win out LSU would have to beat Alabama to not have to play in the SECCG. LSU ain't beating Alabama so UGA is fricked and will have to beat ATM to get what little benefit there is in winning the SECCG.

It's the least we could do for Kirby seeing as how he deliberately loses to us every year out of respect to his former boss.

Why would any team want to make the SEC Championship game with the current format being the way it is? You want to risk players getting hurt in a physical game against a top team right before the start of the CFP? I would rather be sitting at home with a 10-2 record and resting up before the playoff starts.

Most of us in the 2-loss group want absolute chaos.
Georgia loses to Ole Miss
Tennessee loses to Georgia
Texas loses to Arkansas
TAMU loses to South Carolina and Texas
Bama beats LSU
Won’t happen, but it would be hilarious if every team has at least two losses.

LSU is guaranteed in if they win out and Texas A&M loses 0+ games in SEC play with a 3 or 4 way tie (Texas, A&M, UGA). LSU is also in with a 3 way tie with Texas and Texas A&M. Also, I think with a 4-way tie with Tennessee, Texas, and A&M too.

The playoffs are all that matters. And unless Georgia blows up, they're in the 12 teams playoffs. At the end of the year, the conference championship is just a secondary bragging token.

The really wild situation is there is a chance that we get A&M vs LSU even if Texas beats A&M. If LSU beats Bama and Texas beats A&M both Texas and UGA will be 11-1 (assuming they win out which I realize is not guaranteed, calm down Tennessee fans) and neither one will make the SEC Championship.
A&M and LSU would both be 10-2 because of non-conference losses so there would be a real chance the loser is eliminated from the playoffs. I got this scenario from MRed website:
1. Texas A&M (7 - 1) Above Georgia, LSU, and Texas based on conference opponent win percentage (0.4688).
2. LSU (7 - 1) With Georgia and Texas, below Texas A&M based on conference opponent win percentage (0.4531). Above Georgia and Texas based on conference opponent win percentage (0.4531).
3. Georgia (7 - 1) With LSU and Texas, below Texas A&M based on conference opponent win percentage (0.4375). With Texas, below LSU based on conference opponent win percentage (0.4375). Above Texas based on head-to-head record (1-0).
4. Texas (7 - 1) With Georgia and LSU, below Texas A&M based on conference opponent win percentage (0.3594). With Georgia, below LSU based on conference opponent win percentage (0.3594). Below Georgia based on head-to-head record (0-1).

The SEC needs to go to 9 games. With only 8 games and no divisions the standings at the end are likely to be a gigantic cluster of 1 and 2 loss teams with a maze of tiebreakers having to be applied. 9 games greatly increased the coverage of teams played, gives you more "head to head" tiebreakers and allows for a greater overall spread of records.
