Guys like Damien Harris are why Saban coached. He saw more guys like Malachai Moore on his team and lost his love for the game. He forsaw games like Saturday happening more often with younger kids too obsessed with what can i get for myself money wise than what can i do for my team.

Can't argue with anything he just said tbh.
But also man, DeBoer is stepping into an impossible situation replacing Nick Saban.
People keep flippantly calling Saban "The Goat."
Okay let's actually understand this: Saban is the greatest football coach of all time, in the history of the game. Nobody is going to follow that up. We're going to see a dropoff. Period.
The former players are gonna call him out. The current players are gonna call him out. Yeah, let's just understand it now, DeBoer isn't the greatest of all time, but he is a great coach. Let's let him do his thing without coming at his throat for one SEC loss

I’m with you in a sense but when that “one SEC loss” comes to Vandy 5 games into his first season with one of the most loaded rosters in college football, he’s not gonna get cut a lot of slack.

This is the problem it’s a brandname loss black eye. If you change vandy to miss st or usce and no one batts an eye over this.

You definitely missed the point of the interview.
The issue is with the player and how the team / coach handled it. He sees a much bigger issue ahead than "just one SEC loss."

You never want to be the man who follows the man.

I think almost everyone outside of Alabama fans was completely aware of that. Your own fanbase is the only group having a hard time accepting this.

If you go back and look at the preseason record predictions, the vast majority of Alabama fans predicted that Alabama would go 9-3 or 10-2. Over 75% of them predicted this record.
That is a fall off from when Saban was there. Over 75% of the predictions would have been 11-1 or 12-0.
So obviously most Alabama fans expected to take a step back. Most fans expected to lose one or two more games.
What most, like me, have railed against are all the idiots on here that were and some still are saying that Alabama will suddenly be a .500 team.
So many people here seem unable to see nuance, everything is black and white. And it doesn’t matter what they read or what they see, they are going to believe what they want to.
It is very possible for an Alabama fan to both believe that Alabama will take a slight step back while still being one of if not the top program in the SEC.

That's not what Alabama fans on this board were saying last week.

Coaches are handcuffed by NIL and the portal. I just wonder how many coaches are threatened daily by players saying they'll leave if things aren't handled the way they want them to be. Why do y'all think Saban got out when he did? He saw the writing on the wall and tried to warn everybody how it was going to turn out.

I like the passion of Malachi Moore. He also has talent.

Saban built a culture.
DeBooers destroyed it.

If he can't control one punk arse kid, he ain't the man for the job.

Dude DeBoer has a loaded team that just lost to Vanderbilt. Those are the kinds of games you’re lucky to have in year 1 of replacing Saban. It’s waaaaaay more than just “big shoes to fill”
Penix made the guy and it could not be more obvious

This. The last loss was 40 years ago. Something like 20+ wins in a row before this loss. Prior to that it was the late 1960s.
If it was South Carolina, Mizzou, LSU etc it would be understandable.

I'm sorry but that just isn't the sentiment that your fanbase has portrayed over the last week.
