17 to 17
Is Thorne trying to be Cam?
Why couldn't we just feed hunter 30 time instead? We walk through that game I think if we do.

Scrambles and sacks are going to skew that number a little but I agree that Hunter is not being utilized enough. We all saw it yesterday, this offense is just different when we get something going on the ground early in drives. Zero reason to not feed Hunter when we are up 11 in the 4th quarter. You know he’s fresh and you’re trying to bleed clock.

we need to cut the RPO out of the O with Thorne. Either call a running play or a passing play. Thorne' decision making is horrendous. Just take the "either/or" off his plate.

I'm beginning to wonder if Thorne has Vegas ties. Seems fishy.

I understand part of the success of running the ball is predicated on the fact that we had some success with passing.
However, when you are knocking down back to back 8 to 10 yard runs, just keep feeding him. You could see the OL was rolling folks at the line.
It was a shame all around.

Freeze has done that a few times this year. Cal was a perfect example of that. We didn't try running it in the first half. Because of two punts inside the three we started running it and running it well. We would then try to pass on first down and played behind the chains............or worse.

Just not seeing it used so often as being a benefit in this situation. Have it available to give the defense something to think about, but Thorne isn’t Cam or Nick Marshall.
Maybe CHF thinks that utilizing Thorne this way keeps him more in the office but not throwing interceptions?

Just wait until we have Salter and he’s toting it 17 times.

It wouldn’t have mattered if we won the game. We find the dumbest shite to complain about.
Hunter had 19 touches. 17 carries and 2 receptions.
Gus ran a run heavy approach and people complained we would run the running backs into the ground giving them the ball 20 plus carries.
Granted I can agree there was the drive that we missed the FG in the 4th we should have continued to run the ball. Has nothing to do with how many carries who had

Should have run Hunter more, but Thorne with 17 isn’t bad. He makes plays with his feet and it keeps him from tossing the ball to the other team. He’s not Nick Marshall out there but grabbing 5-10 yards several times a game keeps the defense honest.

Thorne needs to run some but he has proven that he can't win a close game for us. The ball should have been in Hunter/Alston's hands more on the last few drives. Thorne is trying to play hero ball and he isnt built for that.

What kind of comment is that, especially from a coach? It did matter because we didn't win the game and that is a primary reason why. Just because we could have lucked out and still won making poor decisions doesn't make it more excusable

this board would be ecstatic if Auburn would have pulled off the win and we would be highlighting all the good shite and minimally pointing out the things we need to work on. Now all the good is for naught and any comment to boost the good rings hollow

You know they would have fumbled it. This team is next man up on who can find a way to lose the game

This.
We don’t know how to win yet. It’s almost like we coach and play like we can’t close. Waiting to screw something up.
Things that allow opportunity for disaster.
1. RPO up 11. If coach doesn’t want Qb to throw it, don’t call RPO.
2. 52yd fg try instead of pinning them deep.
3. Man to man on outside. Give up 60yd catch.
4. RPO on 3rd down, biggest 3rd down of game. Pick 6
5. No plan to attack all out blitz. Just hold it and take sacks
We call plays and execute where the worst thing that can happen, happens.

quote:mostly ignorance or false memory. It was a bubble screen to the field with a slant and go routes on the boundary. It was designed to go to the bubble as it was wide the frick open. Sadly, Thorne is a terrible decision maker and chose poorly. The defense showed all out blitz and only rushed three and dropped back in coverage, baiting Thorne with the slant. Thorne took the bait and lost Auburn the football game.

Conclusion, Thorne cost us the ball game, again

It was an empty set with 5 wide. Straight pass play.
