Have you driven much in Texas? I don’t think I have ever driven in a state that has a shittier flow of interstate traffic than Texas. Instead or most people cruising at 72-77 like most southeast states, there it is between 57-84. Take a few trips on 20 between DFW and Shreveport and get back to us.

I remember on the way back from Dallas from the Cotton Bowl. I was going 90, a Lambo passed me like I was sitting still. A few miles up the road two police cars have the Lambo pulled over but it looked like they were just standing outside of the car with the owner having a casual conversation. Then 15 minutes later that same Lambo passed me again and I never saw them after that

We do drive fast. I just took the family through the Pacific Northwest. Every speed limit in Washington State and Oregon seems to be 60 mph and every local driver cruises at around 57 mph. Crazily annoying for a Texan trained driver,

I have been making that trek since 1980, what would you like to know about it

Texas is overrun. Basically an extension of South America now.

Craziest is Colorado, speed limit will be 70 on a steep mtn pass with no guard rails. Like Mont eagle on crack.

That was a actually a fun week for us in 2021. It was very surreal and relaxing being disconnected from the world. The wife and I would walk the dog a night in the snow, and it was almost like being out in the rockies with no electricity nor working lights for miles. The stars were gorgeous in the crisp air. Kids loved it, one big campout.

Texas State Highway 130 has a speed limit of 85 mph. If you are diving that speed, you'd better be in the right-hand lane 'cause the big dogs need to pass you.

It’s a myth about the autobahn having no speed limits. We got hit by someone. Reading the speed limit on the autobahn and our car got totaled and I got a concussion

You were probably on the small portion of the autobahn that DOES have a speed limit. There are definitely parts that have no speed limit, not a myth.

The autobahn does have speed limits in towns and cities, no limit between those spots. This is something you should have known before driving in a foreign country. It is not a secret or just knowledge to the locals
How did you get hit, were you in the left lane going slow? Germans are very good and respectful drivers, unlike Americans. You do not go to the inside lane, unless you mean it. People move over when flashed from behind, and there is no cruising in the left lane.

quote:Texas drivers understand the numbers game: when there is a consistent flow of traffic driving above the speed limit, the highway patrol's tolerance levels go up; they can make their quota writing tickets for 90 and need not bother with someone driving 82 in a 75. Conversely, where traffic is light, and you are at the first of the month, 6 or 7 miles over might do you in if you are unlucky. People are driving faster on I-35W now than they were 15 years ago because their is more traffic, which is somewhat counterintuitive.

No… 1. I wasn’t driving. I was trying to sleep in the backseat.
2. We had just gotten gas. we were coming back onto the high way and we were in the middle lane going around a truck. German driver clipped us as he was changing lanes and spun us into the ditch. The police did place full fault on him.

Flatlanders. Try that in E Tn and you’ll go splat alongside so many fools thinking they can go fast while attempting the dragon.

1-10 through Louisiana says hello. At least Texas builds the iinterstate infrastructure on a regular basis.

it allows out of staters to legally leave the stare sooner.

not trying to be difficult, but they forgot Washington DC where the speed limit is 300 miles an hour
