The Man Who Gave Away the Farm

On our next 30 for 30, hear the story of Scott Woodward, the man who negotiated the two worst coaching contracts in history. Hear the story of how a massive buy out crippled one program financially. Hear how a massive buy out prevented another program from making a much needed coaching change. Hear how one man crippled not one but two SEC football programs. All on ESPN’s next 30 for 30.

He had a Heisman winning quarterback and two first round wide receivers. Even the defense had three players drafted. With all that talent LSU finished third in their division.

That is a failure.

You’re right and at the time I thought LsU had messed up not hiring him. I thought he was going to be the next great young coach. Then again I cant help but wonder if LsU administration for football is a better organization and maybe he’d have more success at Ldu.

Well, for a long time they were the best SEC program in Texas. And Texas is a big state.

We will run the table. After watching Kelly at the presser last night, I can tell he means business now.

Tell me more ways that Brian Kelly has “failed”

Scott Woodward was the AD at Texas A&M who hired and signed the Jimbo contract. That stupid arse blank national title trophy? That was him.

LSU then hired Woodward as their AD. He hired Brian Kelly and signed his contract that guarantees 90% of his remaining contract as the buy out. I thought it was around $80 million, SidewalkLicker says it is only $66 million.

One thing about Woodward, he has never seen a buyout that scared him.

But why would it? It’s not his money and he will have moved on by then.

First time on the board today?

You might want to check out how Kelly has done in opening games. He is winless in opening games at LSU. That is failure. He is 1-5 in his last six games against ranked teams. He is 3-6 overall against ranked teams at LSU. I would consider having a losing record against ranked teams a failure. He has never won a new years 6 bowl game, a BCS game, or playoff game. Ever, at any stop. That is a failure. He blames his players and coaches when they lose. That is a failure. And there is that kid in the scissor lift. That is a little more than just a failure.

Imagine losing to a coach like that, damn

….with the best coach you’ve ever had at that.
