Is the era of SEC depth/dominance over?

I'm confident that the SEC's elite teams are still the nation's best most years, but what really separated the conference in the 2000's and 2010's was that our #5-8 teams could consistently beat your ranked #2-4 teams. Teams like Miami or ND didn't walk into big SEC stadiums and win, not to mention whip arse. Our front 7 depth and speed could take down flashy media darling teams with a star QB/WR combo.
I'm just not sure that outside of UGA and maybe a couple others that the SEC scares anyone anymore.

Who is better than Georgia, Alabama, and Ole miss? Then Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

Given what we saw yesterday, Florida and Texas A&M are not in the 5-8 range. More like 10-16

neither florida nor a&m had a qb worth a damn. napier is at fault for not getting someone. Mertz is a nice guy but never showed anything special.
wiegmann is supposed to be good but boy i can't remember a worse looking qb than him last night.
you've got to have a qb and the portal gives you an opportunity every year. to upgrade if you don't have one.

Are we the best overall conference? Clearly. But do our mid-level teams consistently beat up on higher ranked non-conference opponents anymore? Not often. UF was a 2.5 point underdog. aTm was a 2.5 point favorite. Those are the types of games where SEC talent would almost always win out by the 4th quarter, especially at home. LSU, who is traditionally the epitomy of SEC front 7 dominance, has lost 3 straight non conference openers to teams like UCLA and FSU. The fact that no one is overly cocky about a guaranteed win over USC tells you all you need to know. We just don't have the same swagger anymore.

Yes the SEC's dominance is over. The B1G has caught up with them in both elite teams and depth. As I said it would ever since I first posted here. And it is only going to get stronger.

Who outside of the SEC can beat these teams? It’s early but no one comes to mind as a sure fire loss for anyone on that list.

Michigan
Oregon
Wisconsin
Penn st looked good.
If you went 1-1 the SEC dominates the B1G
UGA - OSU
Bama - Penn St
Ole Miss - Oregon
Texas - Michigan (we find out next week)
LSU - Iowa?
Tenn - Maryland?
Oklahoma - Wisconsin?
It might be close to even at the top, but that next tier is not even a conversation. Even A&M vs Rutgers would be a bloodbath.

SEC is still the best.
Teams as a whole are a lot more evened out though. You can't stack depth and honestly you can never count on an underclassmen star player to finish at your school anymore.
As far as Bama's concerned and as an example, there's no way you can fully expect Ryan Williams to remain at Bama until he gets to the NFL. He may stay but the way things are now, I'm not counting on it.

All because the ACCs #2 team beat our #12 AND A&M lost (with their new coach) lost to the #7 while being tied 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

So, is Elko an ACC level coach?
Is Napier a Sun Belt level coach?
Notre Dame didn't impress me as being worthy of a #7 ranking.
Miami is improved, but Florida simply sucked on defense.

A & M and Florida are not in the middle of the SEC.
A & M is a bit closer to the middle but those two teams are down near the 10-11 area.
