I say the bye week after an home loss to Kentucky before the Cocktail Party...

I don't think this happens. The brass at UF drags it's feet on football. Lane will not get the commitment there that would be commensurate with their ability.

There's no reason in the world that Florida shouldn't be overly competitive in all sports outside of their own ineptitude. Talk about having every advantage there is.

Lane wouldn’t leave for a lesser job

He can do anything and everything he wants at Ole Miss

Truth. Even wild to think that UF football, outside of two great coaches, has been mediocre its entire existence.

That would be a win/win for Florida if it happened that way. Things have a way of not happening that way...lol....

Could happen if we lose at home to Miami, A&M and either UCF or KY while also losing to TN on the road. No reason then not to go ahead and pull the trigger during the bye week.

Nonsense FL became a major football power under Charley Pell in the early 80s.

They’re nuts if they don’t do it…Kiffin with UF’s capital and resources would be something to see. The weird thing is, Ole Miss has recently shown that they are more committed to college football than Florida. Strange.

Didn't Lane say something about a Pine Box?

This is far from the truth. The current UF roster based on talent alone on both sides of the ball is a better roster than LSU has. LSU wishes they had the defensive players Florida has. Florida has some really nice young players and I'm not even including Lagway. I feel the media has went out of their way to make the bar low for Napier. If I was a decisionmaker at UF I'd expect at least 8 wins out of this roster. If not, Napier has to go.

Florida snubbed Lane in '21 when they hired Sunbelt. Doubt he gives them the chance to offer this time around.

Call up one of your buddies and see if he would try for the job.

Another question is, how Ole Miss boosters react after 3 losses? Will the NIL money dry up?

It won't be Lane. We haven't stolen a HC since the 60s.

Miss St is basically a mid major program, I don't really count that.

nobody wanted to hire Dan he was basically stuck at Miss state despite his efforts to leave

I wish

TheCaw had been advocating for Florida to hire lane since 2017

But no it won’t happen for 3 reasons

1. The UAA and boosters love Billy like they loved Mike white, he’ll get until at least 2025 but most likely 2026

2. Lane is too much of a winner for said uaa and Disney Gator boosters, they don’t like him and won’t hire

3. Mississippi is a better program than Florida in the nil era and lane has less pressure plus the ole miss athletic foundation is way better than the UAA. It would be a lateral or even backwards move for him to go to Florida I doubt he does it
