Lane Kiffin, a legend in his own mind and also in the mind of complete retards. A man cloaked in the mystique of offensive brilliance, he stands as a curious enigma in the annals of college football. His 95-49 overall record belies a career defined more by hype than tangible achievement.

With 2 nasty, terrible seasons at Ole Miss and 2 fairly good ones (one of them marking his 3rd 10 win season in the P5), was the apex of his coaching journey in Conference USA? Was his reputation strictly based on 2 good seasons with FAU? His other coaching stints, marked by inconsistency, failure, shame, and a penchant for drama, have done little to dispel the notion that Kiffin is a tactician more adept at crafting an image than constructing a championship contender.

Discuss.

If this weren't written by AI, it would be one of the greatest all time posts here.

Let me interpret. Lane Kiffin can put an offense on the field but has struggled on the defense. But now with the great Pete Golding should at least pass LSU and Tennessee for SEC teams with a playoff pulse.

Kiffin is a really good coach. He just tends to shite his pants in big moments.

I would argue that Brian Kelly is the best mediocre coach in college football, and maybe the best of all time. He may finish his 30 year career with 20+ 10-win seasons, and zero major bowl wins. That’s really saying something.

Kiffin feels like that guy at work that could get all the promotions but he doesn’t give shat. He knows his 75 percent effort is better than half his colleagues 100 percent so he’d rather live his best life than be the best with no life. I personally don’t fault him.

Lane Kiffin has never had a losing season at Ole Miss. Ole Miss. Had a 12 team playoff existed, after this season he would have had the Rebs in the playoffs 3 out of his 5 seasons there. At Ole Miss. None of you get how tough it is to win there. Especially LSU. (And he’s already beaten them twice).

One of the worst coaches in OM history won a National Championship at LSU. Lane at someplace like LSU would win multiple natty’s. Thank God they’re too stupid to see it. One day, unfortunately for us Reb fans, UF, or some school similar, will make the move. Then you will see. But in the meantime we’ll just enjoy struggling with overrated Lane in Oxford.

So you think he's better than Brian Kelly in that category?

I agree. Kiffin won 11 games last season. Kelly won 10. Kiffin is getting better. Kelly is getting old. Most pundits predict Ole Miss will be better than LSU this season.

ESPN predicts Ole Miss #6 in the nation. LSU #14

SEC media think Ole Miss is the #4 team in the conference. LSU #5

If you look at the winning % in the last two stops for each one they are only a few points apart.

And only 1 of them has one 10 or more regular season games in the SEC.

Failed attempt at a troll

Gotta give the advantage to the guy that hasn't killed a staffer.

Mediocre coaches don't win 10 and 11 games in the SEC. If you do that year after year, you are relevant.

Kelly is the king of mediocre with 3+ losses/season avg.

I think you're right in the sense that he's the best coach out there who has yet to jump from mediocre to elite. He needs a win against a top team, a Georgia, Bama or Big 10 equivalent. Beat 2 really good teams last year in LSU and Penn St inching him closer, but needs that top 5 when it matters wins to break through.

Imagine having a Heisman winner at QB and losing to a mediocre coach.

How many 1st rounds picks came from that offense last year?

But they are going be just as good this year

If Kelly says No to LSU after your University Bidened Ed Orgeron, your AD would have absolutely been blowing up Sexton to interview Lane. There are some (maybe many) out there who believe you should have hired Lane instead of Kelly. Let's give it 2-3 seasons and we'll truly know.
