Any streak of finishing unranked in the Final AP poll that straddled at least in part any season since 1980:

Auburn is literally in our worst rut as a program since just after WW2.
The current four year streak of finishing unranked is the longest such streak for Auburn since the 10-year streak from 1943-1952.

I’m honestly shocked that LSU has a longer rut than the one they experienced in the early ‘90s.
And I’m equally shocked that Tennessee’s worst rut was not one that included Dooley and the other string of coaches they went through post-Fulmer

Looking at this quickly...feels a bit unfair. In 69 we won the acc finishing 7-4 overall..but 3 of those losses were against ranked teams. We were 7-3 going into a bowl.

it happens. In our streak we had a bunch of 8 win seasons, and a 7-3-1 year where we tied #1 Nebraska.

Dam! As an LSU fan i would have guessed easily most of the 90's would have been where LSU would have landed unranked. Did realize we were pretty bad for a good chunk of the 70's.

Well, keep on mind that they only ranked the top 20 back then.
And yes, LSU I'm sure was also unranked for these 7 seasons: 1989-1995.

Relative to the rest of the SEC, Saban wasn’t our nemesis. I mean, yeah our record against him was bad, but it was better than everyone else’s.
Auburn finished 5-12 against Saban while at Alabama (we were 3-2 against him when he was at LSU). Four of those 12 losses to him at Bama were games in which Auburn led in the 4th quarter.
I’m going to guess very few, if any, other programs can claim 8 wins against Saban.
Until the last four years, Auburn did just fine during the Saban era:
1 National Title (2010)
2 National Title Appearances (2010, 2013)
2 SEC Titles (2010, 2013)
3 SEC West Titles (2010, 2013, 2017)
Considering Saban’s success across the state, I believe Auburn did about as well as could be expected from 2007-2019. At the end of the 2019 season, Auburn had all of the above accomplishments plus a 5-8 head-to-head record. But then Gus struggled in the Covid year. Auburn made a horrific hire in Brian Harsin, and it’s taking Freeze a bit of time to dig out from that hole.

State finished ranked in 1981 so our streak would be 1982-1991 (which is still still woeful).
1986 we started 6-1 and were ranked as high as #13. But then we promptly lost our last 4 games to finish 6-5 and obviously unranked and no bowl either.

Now do the playoff era.
Okay. I’ll do Ole Miss at least.
5 years (2016-2020)
Your longest streak of finishing unranked in the last decade is longer than any streak Auburn has had of finishing unranked in the last 7 decades.
Congrats I guess.

Final AP Poll of 1981 shows State unranked.

You don't have to be an arse. I was asking what the same streaks were but starting in the playoff era.

Well figuring we’re just 10 seasons into the playoff era, that’s not a lot of data to look at.
