The awards are bought and paid for until Starkville finally starts winning some apparently.

I’ve only been to Starkville once to see Widespread back in the 90s. Fun show. But our hosts took us down the road the other night we stayed to find some fun.

I recently toured Mississippi State, and it was very impressive. I can definitely understand the appeal.

Its the best SMALL Town. Gulfport actually has about 70K I wouldnt consider it a small town they have a couple 10+ story office buildings in downtown Gulfport.
If we’re talking small towns, then bay St. Louis wins

People that have been to Starkville in the last decade usually say this. It’s improved and grown alot in recent years

I've hunted quite a bit around West Point and have enjoyed that area, including Starkville.

As an outsider who has visited both places several times...
Oxford and Starkville give up such a different vibe.
Everybody knows that Oxford gives off the "southern aristocracy" vibe.
Starkville just kind of seems to have an "any town" kind of feel to it. Completely non pretentious and toned down. Doesn't feel as much like an SEC town as it does a place where you might find a regional University. Like a Troy or a Statesboro kind of place. And I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing.

I guess we need to define small. I like Starkville just fine but it's not better than Oxford, Long Beach, Ocean Springs, Pass Christian, etc. and that's just Mississippi.

USA used to be the best for kids growing up in the 90's looking for NFL NBA AND MLB stats during the week (until the internet was more readily available)
Young bucks on here would have never made it with dialup.
Seriously. Growing up, USA today was THE source for getting day to day sports stats in the pre-internet age.
