Per a source with knowledge of the situation, there’s nothing strange going on with the Calipari-Arkansas deal. “100% on track” and just finishing up details.

We have no way of knowing whether or not there have been any direct negotiations between Caliperi and Arkansas... Most likely not, as these things are generally handled by agents. Any agent worth his salt will comply with his client's contract... It could be that Coach Cal is walking without any part of his buyout, or that may be what is being negotiated.

Calipari doesn't have an agent. Also, there's no buyout if he leaves willingly. Only if he gets fired.

Update from Trilly Donovan

quote:

Okay here are some notes I can share on the situation. - As of 1pm, the Arkansas board of trustees has approved the contract. They have a meeting scheduled tomorrow to hold an official public record vote. Source says there’s no concern in the eyes of the BoT that this could fall through. -

Internally at Arkansas, a press conference for the announcement has been delayed multiple times with no explanation.

- Multiple people have reached out today about the cold feet rumors with varying degrees of reliability. -

Multiple sources say Calipari hasn’t notified UK officially of his negotiations with Arkansas.

- A very plugged Kentucky source said the UK athletic department stance is either Cal goes to Arkansas or gets fired without pay for breach of contract. -

Most sources expect Calipari to end up going to Arkansas.

Sounds like Kentucky wants him to stay so they can fire him for beach of contract.

Pettiness from a stepping stone school.

So much worrying and obsessing about contract language from so many people who have no idea what they're talking about

Arky getting Cal is a massive win/win for all involved. He gets a chance to refresh. Arky will be tops in recruiting for his duration and KY gets to kick the tires on a new coach.

Do not believe for one second any of this bs about last minute cold feet.
