Any SEC school that hasn't won at least a CWS National Championship since Y2K.... needs to be on the "watch out" list.

This was posted in 2020. If this is about TV (ESPN, Fox Sports, etc.), then read the markets, and look who is NOT listed (any city in Louisana, Alabama, Mississippi, and so on). It is a new era in sports. No one gives a crap about blue-blood status.

Those aren’t metro area numbers. Mississippi Louisiana and Alabama also have the entire state obsessed with college football (that’s 13M people).
Missouri will always be pro sports first and 90% of the population have zero affiliation with Mizzou

Most colleges on the east coast are within 2 hours of multiple major cities, this isn't going to be all it takes.

What a shitshow college sports has become.
It used to be flawed, but was still fun with the long-standing REGIONAL rivalries.
There was something about the Vanderbilts and the Mississippi States of the world, or the Northwestern/Purudes of the world, going toe-to-toe with Alabama/Ohio State that made college football unique and not feel like NFL Jr..
College football is directionless, flailing in the wind, at this point.

I don’t like it but I’ve kinda been expecting it. College football is only about money. Nobody really cares about the stuff that actually made it so popular to start with.

Vandy and Mizzou definitely on the chopping block.
South Carolina fans sell out their stadium no matter who they are playing and their fans show up, no matter how shitty their team is. It is admirable. I don't know what their TV ratings are, but I suspect they are just fine based on how well they attend the games through thick and thin.
Vandy and Mizzou can't say that.

That’s probably a good reason to retain a Missouri. KC and Stl are large competitive markets. If SEC doesn’t have a presence, the occasional fan will shift their viewership. Markets like MS or AR have little competition. SEC will capture most of that market regardless. Maybe at lower levels. 30% penetration in large market is more valuable than 75% in others. Networks need to capture their fair share nationally.

This is insanely stupid. We have a contract with ESPN. ESPN could give a shite about specific individual markets as all of their ad dollars are national. Those blue blood programs drive national viewership.
Being nationally relevant in Tuscaloosa, Gainesville, or Baton Rouge means a LOT more to ESPN than being irrelevant in KC.
