What is the general consensus of Phil Fulmer on the Rant? It doesn't seem like he's mentioned all that often on this forum. I know he had a lot of success with Tennessee.

17-16-1 A winning record, barely. Not exactly owning anything.

11-4 as head coach. Deal with it.

Joe Frazier was asked once, after he and Muhammad Ali had both retired and Ali was struggling badly with Parkinson's Disease, what he thought about his one-time rival. He said, "Ali and I fought three times. I won once and he won two. But look at him now. I think I won all three." That's how I feel about Fulmer. Yes, he had success against Bama, and yes, he got us put on probation. But look at Tennessee now. I think we won every game against him.

Joe Frazier died a poor, bitter old man who lived in the back of a gym but it’s a cute story I guess

In 1996, when Ali lit the Olympic flame in Atlanta, Frazier told a reporter that he would like to throw Ali into the fire and felt that he should have been chosen to light the flame.

Was he that successful against Bama?

A really good, loyal friend to Johnny Majors. A guy that would never snitch on his coaching colleagues to curry favor with the NCAA. A man that is a bastion of integrity that insisted his coaches follow all the rules. A coach universally acclaimed for making sure his players never got in trouble with the law. They named the Fulmer Cup after him for this reason.
An Alabama fan is featured in a famous video, "I love Tennessee" trumpeting his attributes.

So my little story offers multiple parallels with Tennessee, is what you're saying.

He went 3-4-1 against Stallings, Fran, and Saban.
He went 7-1 against Dubose and Shula.
His record was good. He definitely made the most of the poor coaches we had during his tenure.

That makes sense. Dubose and Shula weren't Bama's best years that's for sure.

No I’m saying that your dumb little story has nothing to do with the fact that the Great Pumpkin had almost a 75% winning percentage vs Alabama when he coached the Vols
