Because it seems most think we are about to take a huge step back. So who do you think has the best chance to close the gap?

Is it Michigan? ND? A SEC team?

Because there’s a big gap between Bama and everyone else I think we can all agree.

Being able to buy players for 15 years with the SEC, NCAA and ESPN covering for your arse? No, no one will be able to repeat what bama did under saban. Too much of a level playing field now

You already got passed. Georgia woulda won the SEC in a fairly called game. That game was one final tribute to Saban, the refs' boss.

No one gives a frick about your tradition, just ask all the recruits that abandoned the sinking ship.

I can see Bama fans sliding into their new reality nicely. Living in the past.

Seems like someone hasn’t been paying attention lately. The gap has already been closed for several schools.

The advantage Bama had over everyone else was high quality depth. You just lost 28 players, mostly 4 & 5 stars, over the last week, from your roster. That loss of depth not only closed the gap significantly, but brought several schools higher than Bama in overall quality depth.

You already took a step back.

In his first 6 years as Bama coach Nick won 3 NCs.

In his last 6 he won 1 NC*.

Kirby won 2 NC during that time.
Dabo won 1.
Orgeron won 1.
Harbaugh won 1.

Bama will obviously not be as good without Saban, so…looks like you’ve been caught.

I think you mean Bama’s PAST football success.

Everyone is about to catch Bama’s current football success.

I think Georgia right now is ahead of Alabama and more like what we were several years ago.Kirby has that program in a better place than any team in college football in my opinion.

Kiffin has Ole Miss just under Georgia in my opinion. Lane will make the playoff this year with this Ole Miss team.

Nobody else in the SECnis ahead of us. Michigan is about to lose their coach also so we will have to wait and see.

Kelly is Les Miles with tits and will never win more than 11 games a season but is more of a 9-3 guys.

Auburn just wants to beat us and never really expects to be in the hunt for the natty. 2010 was a fluke and they still. Any believe it.

All the rest of you suck.

By what metric? Most likely Ohio state passes Alabama on the all time win list next season. Michigan already has more wins. When will Alabama ever catch Michigan?

If it’s nattys or sec championships about 2/3 of the latter are shared with another SEC team and all but what, 4 of the former were actually won on the field? You’re probably right….no body will catch Alabama’s pretend success because most universities have some modicum of decorum and even those who do not would be laughed off the stage trying to claim success the way Alabama does. I get it, Alabama football is the only thing keeping Alabama from being identical to Mississippi and New Mexico.

Are you old enough to remember what Bama football looked like prior to Saban? Most of Bama success is due to 2 all time great coaches, Bear and Saban. Both the Bear and Saban were both bigger than the Bama brand. We are seeing it right now with the amount of recruits and players that have admitted they only came to Bama because of Saban and only Saban.

So let’s just look at “Bama Success”

All time wins and records:
Bear/Saban-432-75(41 years) (.852%)

Other 79 years- 522-261 (.666 %)

National Championships;
Bear/Saban- 12 (41 years)

Others- 6 (79 years)

SEC Championships
Bear/Saban- 22 (41 years)

All Others - 11 (79 years)

12 years prior to Saban vs Tennessee:

1-10.

So yea! It can be expected that Bama takes a big step back now that Saban is gone. It took Bama 10 years after Bryant retired to win another national title.

After Stallings won his title in 91, it was another 18 years after that till Saban won his 1st at Bama. Even after Stallings retired, Bama missed a bowl game 4 times the next 7 years. Stallings won 10 games his last season, then Bama went 4-8 the following

So now knowing the facts, you will see that history is not in Bama favor right now. Do I think they go 4-8? No! But I also don’t think you’re winning 10 games either this year.

Saban is the greatest coach of all time and Bear is #2 by many experts. But outside of Bear and Saban, the Bama brand and history really isn’t that impressive. There are a hand full of schools in the SEC that Saban would have done the same thing he done at Bama had he went some place else.
