Over under 8 wins for Bama next year

I'm going to go under at 7-5.
They are heading into some seriously dangerous territory with half their team heading for the exits. They thought the Bama "brand" could hold kids there, but turns out it was only Saban. Without him, looks like kids have no respect for the brand. On the flip side LSU has a brand that was able to self sustain and win multiple championships after Saban.
Their only hope is to rebound a little bit in the spring portal period, but even then you are looking at patchwork.
Could maybe go 9-3 if they nailed the spring portal. However the problem is the big money schools are going to be slinging money in the spring as well so Bama is in a really tough spot.
The absolute meltdown when they go 7-5 or worse is going to be one for the ages
LSUs program is what Bama should strive for. 20 years post Saban and sustaining long term success.

I think they get the bleeding stopped and recruit the portal well. I'm going over.

Look at their record from 1995-2007. That’s basically what their program is going to be going forward. Occasional solid seasons with a bunch of terrible ones sprinkled around them

Most national titles in last 20 years other than Bama.
4 National Title Appearances, 3 National Championships.
Bama would do well to have that run for the next 20 years.

Over.
I say they go something like 9-3.

With as many players as we are losing, it will be a difficult season. I’ve been a Bama fan since the early 80’s. Some of our fans have an unrealistic expectation because all they’ve known is the last 17 years. They’re about to come crashing down to earth. But hey, maybe I’m wrong. I can be pessimistic.

Really depends on what happens from here on out. Too much time left for kids to still jump into the "coach leaves" portal.
Best Case
- no more big losses to portal
- add some quality portal guys (CB and C from UW) and solid depth parts in the spring (few DBs, maybe a WR)
Worst Case
- lose some more big pieces (one the RBs, 1-2 of the DL, 1-2 of the edge guys)
- are only able to add spring portal guys who are depth at best
In the best case situation I think we can still be a pretty good team. We'll be a few injuries at certain spots away from trouble (ILB, S), but the first 22 will be really good. I'd probably go over in that situation.
Worst case situation? 8-9 wins would be a really good year. Will just be relying on too many new guys who are either super young or transfers who are not quite talented enough for the roles their are asked to play, and injuries could send us deep into the bag.

I'm with you. 9-3 is a fine season... just not for bammers. The fans need to settle in for a bit of mediocrity. Humble pie will look good on their faces.

Big problem for most teams these days. With the way kids transfer out and leave early it's almost impossible to forecast what your weaknesses will be beyond the next season.

Yep - agree. The biggest thing is who else leaves. So far they've lost a lot of depth, a few solid players (Niblack, Bond, Proctor) and 1 absolute superstar (Downs). If they don't have any other huge losses, the starter lineups on both sides look pretty solid (secondary being the most glaring). There are some rising sophomores on defense who are blue chip, elite prospects that didn't play at all this year (Keeley, Russaw, Pierre). Keeping those guys around is a pretty huge deal, IMHO. Both for 2024 but also for 2025. And frankly I have no clue if they will or not. If all those guys do stick, you've got a 2 deep on the DL that is probably as good as we've had since 2018/2019, especially when you throw in returning both the ILBs.
But it's all speculation because who knows who stays and goes.

Vegas already has it set at 9.5. Seems fair

They MAY have a chance of beating the South Central New Hampshire AM&N Wesleyan Warthogs...

Bama has been LSU's daddy for the last century. No "brand" is respected anymore in the age of NIL.

I want to know what's in place first before calling that.
Safe to say they are 6-0 going to Knoxville in October.
Then it's -
Missouri - home
LSU - away
Mercer - home
Oklahoma - away
Auburn - home
I can see 8-wins with Mercer and Auburn. It's tough to pick the over.
