Next year's 12 team format dilemma...

Probably been discussed already but say you're sitting with 2 losses but made the SEC championship game, how do you feel about that?
Would you rather not play in the championship game and settle with 2 losses and probably a guaranteed spot in the 12 team playoff or would you rather risk a 3rd loss and possibly be eliminated from the 12 team playoff?

Definitely something to consider.

Always play for a championship vs an unknown. IMO.
Can't play scared.

I can’t ever imagine a life worth living where I would not want to be SEC champ at the end of the season. That’s just the era I was raised in. Started watching games with my dad in the 70s

I think you will start seeing teams not really move after conference championship weekend with 12 teams.
They didn't really have that luxury with 4 teams. They HAD to use those games as a delineating factor.

The only way we get in the SECCG with two losses is if one of them is to Wisconsin.

I think conference championships disappear entirely

I wouldn't be so sure of that with the realignment, doing away with divisions, and adding Texas and Oklahoma to the fold.
Every SEC team's schedule got another losable game on it.

I doubt it. They make too much money and draw too many ratings. They would drop the 12th game before they did that.

There might be more incentive to win and not get a third loss than to not lose and get your first or second loss.
It’ll be a weird situation that of course the NCAA didn’t think about before going from four to twelve.

Look at Texas's schedule and tell me what two conference losses you see.

I think you could see conference championship weekend turn into 3 and 4 seeds playing each other for a spot
1 vs 2 will be meaningless except for a bye I guess?

Don’t they play Georgia?

I want to win each game on the schedule … check them off one at a time, then forget about them and move on to the next one … because if you do that everything else will take care of itself.

I’m fairly confident that you can’t just decline a bid to the SECCG, so there is really nothing to consider.

I think they mean, do you want your team to have the best SEC record and be in the SECCG, or, would you rather them actually not qualify for it, but qualify for the 12-team playoff.

Judging by that schedule, the SEC office clearly wants Texas to be comfortable in the new conference.

Don’t let this past season fool you, Sark has some head scratching losses in him.

I don’t think it can be said enough, Texas will benefit far more from being in the SEC than vice versa.

Personally I think the SEC Championship game should go away. Little to gain and everything to lose by playing it.
