Urban? Maybe, but there's baggage. Literally who else would have actually been a better hire than this dude based on resume?

Two hours ago, we were being mocked for 'not being able to land DeBoer and having to settle for Tommy Rees'. Most of it is trolling, but there's at least 15% who actually believe the nonsense they spew

Lanning. I know DeBoer beat him twice this year, but Lanning is the superior recruiter and that matters.

I would argue Lanning or Sark but DeBoer is 5-0 against them in the last two years...with lesser talent.

Kiffin would scare me more at Alabama of guys who may have been realistically available. The problem with this year is there weren't many guys realistically available who would have been viewed as a homerun hire at a place like Alabama
I don't recall many Alabama fans singling out Deboer as the guy they wanted when Saban announced he was retiring. As we all do when we're having coaching searches, they justified the hire later when it became apparent he was going to be the guy.
It's not a bad hire at all, honestly a good hire, but the discussion on this topic has been hilarious to watch from both sides.

Not saying all were attainable but that’s not what you asked. this is supposed to be one of if not THE best job in the country.

It’s a good hire, but I’m very relieved it’s not Lanning, Norvell or Kiffin, especially the latter two
