I think it's a huge let down to from Saban to Deboer... That's just not what I'd expected to follow the goat and carry his program forward.

Words cannot fully convey the dumbness of this post.

Holy shite. It's as though you don't follow football outside of Alabama at all.

You can't seriously expect to replace someone who is considered the GOAT by someone equal. How many coaches are out there who can come close to Saban? Pretty much none, because he's the GOAT and GOATs don't grow on trees. Only Kirby would be a guy that can take over and stay at Saban's level. So, let's please be a bit more realistic.

Is Kalen DeBoer a sexy hire? No, but he seems a pretty good coach and has earned his chops.

Bruce Feldman just re-posted his own tweet that said...

On the topic of Alabama's interest in Kalen DeBoer... His career record is 104-12 and he's 12-2 all-time vs Top 25 teams. Yeah, he's never coached in the SEC but then again, neither had Nick Saban till LSU hired him:

Who would you have hired?

It's not really, who would I have hired, but who would I have gone after...

A) someone that has experience leading a large program with a demanding fanbase
B) someone with experience handling the spot light
C) someone who embraces the new era of recruiting, nil, and portal
D) probably someone in the late 40s to mid 50s... That's the right range of experience for this job.

Deboer doesn't fit those, in my opinion. He's like giving an 18 year old the keys to the Porsche. He doesn't have a and b.

I'd look at large program guys in the NCAA... Wouldn't be opposed to shaking some trees in the NFL ranks.

He also is a pretty damn sexy hire. What he has done with the offense everywhere he has gone is nothing short of amazing while being a hell of an in game coach.

These are the ridiculous expectations that we are ridiculed for as a fan base.

Did you think Andy Reid was going to roll into town, maybe Sean McVey with Kyle Shanahan as OC?

Get a grip. If it is DeBoer, then were getting one the likely best 5 coaches in college football right now.

Newsflash...anyone is a huge letdown from Saban. But, think of it this way. The upside is that Debeor has won everywhere he has been. He uses the same words to describe his team like relentless effort, grind, overcoming adversity, competitive character, doing things the right way, holding people accountable, etc, albeit less animated and intense. He seems to really be a player's coach which is probably necessary given today's coddled youth, and really essential transitioning from Saban to a new coach. He appears to be a humble guy, who mentions his mentors along the way and always looks for new mentors (hello, Saban), and always trying to be better everyday. I really like the way he explained his offense in that it would look really complicated to everyone else but really simple for the players executing it to understand. It will be a very QB centric offense (jess Sayin).

The downside is zip because if it doesn't work out, we terminate him and hire the coach we need after the coach that followed Saban.

No one is coming down from the NFL anymore, it's just not worth it with the crazy hours and NFL salaries.

So I once again ask, what coaches are you thinking fit all 5 criteria?

I agree with everything except the emboldened part.

He's the sexiest potential hire out there. The guy's a straight up, bad arse winner man.

When I think Deboer, I think Saban to LSU and Meyer to Florida.

Deboer to Alabama is a gift.

Even if the hire gets injured while walking around Mal Moore before being announced to the public??

I think DeBoer would be a great hire considering the circumstances of following the GOAT, and how much worse it could be... not to mention maybe we can get him to bring Grubb with him (who Saban originally wanted).

Regarding your criteria:
A.) I'm not too worried about this...
B.) He did it this year
C.) I think with the proper support system (UA) he will be fine in this regard, but time will tell
D.) He's young enough to have longevity if he is successful... and this keep us off the 3-5 year coaching carousel
