So remember that small 7-9 passenger private plane that was headed from Tuscaloosa to Athens earlier today?

It's now scheduled to fly from Athens back to Tuscaloosa at 3:30pm CT

And its scheduled for New Jersey tomorrow...Greg Schiano???Lmao.

Pretty sure our AD is a little bit more stealthy

Getting Kirby would arguably be an even bigger coup than it was to get Saban.

Any chance it could be that we are after Glenn? I would rather have him than Norvell or some of the others mentioned.

The critical thing with DeBoer is knowing his philosophy for recruiting and staff. If Byrne thinks he can do the recruiting business then I think his results on the football field speaks for itself.

I posted this about 100 pages back, but with talk of Byrne having a predetermined list, I think it's interesting that one of Saban's primary mentors (and father-figures) was Don James, who worked with him at Kent State and then proceeded to spend about 18 years as the head coach of Washington.

I have no idea if DeBoer is under serious consideration, but I think it would be logical for both Saban and Byrne to have heard his name pop-up on their radars prior, simply through associated coaching circles.

Before his stint at Washington, I think we played Fresno State previously when he was their OC.

Word is Jimmy Sexton has arrived on campus

Jimmy Sexton is also DeBoer's agent.

Having your first HC job be HC at Bama would be pretty wild.

Something would have to be suspiciously rotten in Athens for Kirby to leave his dream job at his alma mater. No way.

Mainly because after the way he acted over the playoffs, he came off as a thumb sucking twat and I am not too keen on that type. Not to mention he had his whole team essentially quit on him in the bowl game. I just kind of don't like him.

Agreed. I'm going to support whoever gets hired but that would not excite me. Hell, he's a co-DC at that.

Lane is posting pictures of his flight to Tuscaloosa when he was hired. Man he wants it.

The corndogs have hated us for nearly 20 years for hiring Saban from the fricking Dolphins. Imagine the melt if Kirby were to come here directly from UGA.

It would be, but it happened with Shula, DuBose, and Perkins.

It could be that Schumann could become his “own” DC under whomever we have/will hire.
