This would've been a concern for me a few years ago. But now, I don't think it matters like it did with NIL. Plus, he's never coached at any school that's been known to recruit well. Washington's best chance at good recruits are either from California or Samoan. But it's not like California is known to put out quality defensive recruits anyway. I just don't think he's been at a place where he could recruit at an elite level. I'm too young to remember, but how good were the classes that saban had while at Michigan state?

We all worship Nick Saban but if he's out then he needs to be out. His presence could cause some candidates to not have interest..."do your job"...that's always been his saying. Well Byrne needs to do his job and hire the best guy in his opinion. Not Nick's opinion.

I love that Saban is around to help with the players and other things but it can get tricky.

Reminds me of advice i got years ago, earlier in my career.

"If you get fired, they aren't gonna pay your salary."

And Nick isn't gonna pay GB's. Not a bad idea to reach out for his opinion. But he's got to make the decision for himself. Because it is his career on the line.

CNS knows how difficult it is to be a HC. That's why he's always pissed about other coaches teams getting down played by the media. He respects the role too much. He wouldn't intrude on a current coaches style. He would bring in NIL and funds...making it easier for the current coach to focus on football

If he allowed BoB to call his bullshite offense while he was still coach I doubt he will get in a new coaches way. We want him to be part of the program for fundraising and exposure.

Getting Kirby would arguably be an even bigger coup than it was to get Saban, because you'd be peeling him away from his alma mater right at the height of his success, rather than taking him from an NFL job that he was pretty clearly unhappy with.
