True. That’s one concern I have about the younger ones. Although I do think Kiffin would treat Bama like his destination job, I do have to wonder how seriously he could treat the job in something like year 7 were he to get there.

It sounds like you don't spend much time with extremely successful people. Most successful people like to continually challenge themselves, not just sit back and enjoy something that's comfortable and easy.

Someone with ambition and drive will want to take on a challenge like being the head coach at Alabama.

Look at Nate Oats as an example. He really didn't have any of those things, other than a couple of big tournament wins at Buffalo. His resume did not scream guaranteed success. But was definitely good enough to be worth the risk.

Saban told ESPN he made the decision to retire last weekend after getting back from his home in Florida. Told Chris Low that he will be at Alabama helping the transition and will still have a presence at Alabama. Said that health did play a part in his decision although he said he has no major health issues.
