I hope not. I want him to become the next Bobby Bowden…

At LSU/Alabama, Saban has never had a 4 year player not win a national title. He is comiing back at least next year to preserve that - I see him going all in next year.

We’re talking about it and he’s getting clicks, so good enough for him

Alabama radio host
Former radio host, now just co-hosts a podcast.
Per the tweet you reference:
quote:
Recently on The Next Round:
Lance Taylor — “I am going to lean that [Nick Saban] retires…”
[His co-hosts] Jim Dunaway and Ryan Brown disagree.
So while this is generally what was said, the actual context doesn't have as much impact as the thread title might insinuate.

Workaholics rarely retire at the age that the average person would. I would be shocked if he decided to hang it up. He's been working probably 12-15 hours per day for what, 30-40 years? Pretty sure he'd go stir crazy if he all sudden had tons of free time.

A poster on a UGA board predicted this a month ago:
Every year since 2008 people have said the same thing. But maybe THIS time will be different..

If Saban retires, he will probably announce it in December after he has a bad season. If it is early January, he's already back on the grind for the next season. The man is a workaholic and won't stop until he thinks he's lost it.

The Roundtable guys are in it for clicks - especially since they were booted off of WJOX.

Dont listen to anyone but a Bama man on this for an honest opinion. An opposing fan would only say it in hopes; and a talking head would only say it for clicks.....Saban is not going to retire on a loss. I can almost promise this.

Saban will stop just short of Bowden and Paterno. He will keep coaching until he is really old, but he will call it at the first sign of a slip.
You won't see Saban coaching a 3-9 Bama team the way Paterno did at Pen State. You also won't see him coaching a bunch of 7-6 teams in a row either like Bowden.

I don’t know if Bama’s radio hosts are better than ours but if it’s even close this means Saban just signed a contract extension til 2054

I don't think it is a coincidence that players are leaving, coaches are leaving, and recruits seem to be hedging as well.
I agree that Saban will retire at Bama - soon

It's amazing how quick Alabama fans turn. A couple bad snaps away from another national championship, yet they want the GOAT to retire.

I don't want Saban to retire tbh
I like the challenge each year
A new Bama coach will certainly cause them to drop off somewhat to start and that sucks IMO

He bought a condo at Boca Del Vista next to George's parents place. Same fiction different day.

If Cecil Hurt were alive and said it....I would believe it. But... If Cecil knew, he wouldn't have divulged it so there's that.

The game against Michigan makes me think he may give it one more try. No one wants to go out on a busted play
