Bama is 8-5 and unranked by the poll but ranked #5 in the NCAA NET rankings, which is a more thorough and accurate snapshot of a team’s record and strength. Takes into account the quality of opponents, where a game is played, etc. Tennessee is #7 in NET. Ole Miss is #60, btw. Doesn’t matter much on January 2nd anyway.

Tennessee has played the #1, #2, #8, #9 & #21 ranked teams before conference play kicked off. All of those being Quad 1 teams. As well as Syracuse & NC State which are Quad 2.
Ole Miss has played 1 Quad 1 team and 2 quad 2 teams with Memphis being the only ranked win. In football terms, you've played a Division 3 junior college schedule and the committee is letting you know it via your ranking.

Tenn lost to #1, #2, and #8 all back in Dec and consecutively. Dont know if someone was hurt or not.
Ole Miss had not played a ranked team until today and lost...
and FU for making me defend Tennessee.
