I'm still puzzled about everything surrounding Brooks. He seemed like he was trending up prior to this season... but he has been a complete non-factor, and disappeared. I saw the letter that he penned about entering the portal, and the kid appears to be a class act. Anyone have any insight?
Additionally, looking back over the 2021 recruiting class (Brooks' class)... every single WR from that class could be classified as a 'bust'. Crazy that continued to have elite skill players with that kind of a bust.

He’s been hurt most of the year. Allegedly.

I believe he was definitely hurt around the time of LSU (Nov. 4th), but I didn't think he was hurt early in the year. He played on special teams... hmmm

I think other guys just passed him by. I appreciated his social media post yesterday and wish him the best of luck. I hope he shows out somewhere next season.

Sometimes I wonder about that on-field chemistry that just can't be coached. Brooks may simply not sync up with our other boys and qb. It would not shock me to see him go lights out elsewhere if he finds the right fit.

He will go down in Crimson Tide lore based off that catch in the 21 Iron Bowl.

I wish him the best and hope he has success wherever he lands.
From what I observed he struggled to create separation, whether due to chronic injury or lack of elite measurables the end result being he was passed by Bond, Burton and even Benson down the stretch.

Billingsley also caught a key 4th down pass on that same drive

He was hurt then got passed. Just is what it is. Love the guy but it was time.

Brooks got into Saban's doghouse before the season started. It's want anything major, and he got out if it. But by that time, he was passed on the depth chart by a couple of other WRs. Then he got banged up and it went downhill for him from there.
People forget or don't think about it, but a WRs relationship with the QB is every bit as important as their physical skills. When they are on the same page and the QB can trust they will make the same read and be where he thinks they will be, then a WR will really turn the corner. Brooks didn't put in the time that Burton, Bond, Law, and Niblack have been and it shows in the field.

That's insane, but it's pretty impressive that we have been able to sustain pretty good play from our skill players despite an entire recruiting class of WR busts.

We’ll miss him. He was a great special teams player which gets overlooked when a kid isn’t filling up the stat sheet every week

He got himself in trouble...what?....idk.
He got left behind pretty much after that and his injury set him behind even more. Never recovered.
I hope we get an elite receiver from the portal...we need at least one.

Almost all have flamed out elsewhere too. Brooks was the best of that group imo.

Baker, Brooks, and Holden have shown production and Holden has always been more of a short yardage WR. The other guys, not so much.
These guys were all recruited pre-Covid too. Woof

If he goes to Auburn…surely not.

I have no way of knowing, but it doesn't seem like he left on bad terms or anything like that. It's probably a similar situation to what trey sanders was in that hes been banged up a lot and the guys behind him made the most of their opportunities (Bond, Law). That being said, I wish him the best and hope he finds a role elsewhere as long as it's not Auburn.
