The new norm. Collected his NIL all season while “injured” and then bolts for a few million.
Gonna happen often at schools who don’t have wealthy alumni bases.

Kid could have played against Clemson and did not. Trying to not get injured. Sat all year getting NIL money and then bounces at the end of the year for a bigger bag. Great return on investment for SC fans. Speaks a lot on his character quite honestly and why I refuse to support NIL.

Come on down to Papa Kirby

Yeah, I think this is gonna be pretty common now with the NIL. It's sucks to see.
The only positive that I see from the NIL is that some kids will decline to declare for the NFL draft because their NIL payments will outpace what they would make in the draft. Only in some cases though.

I'm just waiting for Barion Brown to announce, every day when I open twitter I say a prayer. Theres been rumors all season, no idea if any of them are true. We did fire our WR coach though.

The only ones asked to be consistently loyal are the fans. It's unfortunate.

It’s the systems fault and he’s just playing the system.

NIL is creating a mercenary culture in CFB.

We had one of these this year. Seems to be a WR thing. Hopefully wording in NIL contracts will stipulate that there will be a pro-rata disbursement for time on field, production, etc...

It's just crazy. South Carolina was begging the fans to contribute money to NIL to secure Juice and this is the result. Plays 1 game in all of 2023 and walks away with 750K. Pathetic.

Then kids will go to the school without that wording.
And you never get the kid.
And you cry that everyone else is outbidding you (when they aren't)

That'd be a better result. He wasted NIL funds and a roster spot.
I guess it's telling that if it takes extra incentives beyond NIL funds agreed to on outset for a player to actually play then it'd be best if he wasn't on the team.

I heard on the radio this morning that Auburn and Texas are leaders.

This off-season is going to kill the last shred of student-athlete illusion. It’s a 1099 independent contractor sport.

I really hope the market corrects itself on this stuff and schools just start refusing to play these players near that much. $75,000 would be alright. $750,000 is just absurd

The only professional sport I know of where every player is a free agent every year, and there is no salary cap.

NCAA needs to make a major rule change about transferring. This crap isn’t good
