Does Bama's stadium feel like a college stadium or NFL stadium?

I know it's a really nice stadium, and we all have our preferences. Read the while thing before you bash. Not being some mean Auburn guy here. It should feel like an NFL stadium with the amount of future NFL players there. :)

But anyway... it looks like the Cowboy's stadium on TV. Doesn't feel like a college football game sorta.

I honestly prefer the old school stadiums like Notre Dame and Michigan. When you're watching a game there, it feels like a college game.

This is really not a knock against Bama's stadium. I'm not some weird Auburn fan hating on something Bama. I'm bringing up Bama because I've watched some of their games this year and it's a really good example of what I mean. It's modern and nice, and lights and screens everyfreakingwhere , and most people like that probably. I just like the feel of games in the old style stadiums. Where all you see are fans without all the screens and lights flashing everywhere.

The led screen that runs around the middle of the stadium.. just too much going on.

There's a few more examples out there.

I think it's more for recruiting than anything. The kids want to see NFL type stadiums because that's their dream to play in the NFL.

College is about the atmosphere, not the building.

I've been going to games there for the last 21 years and it has certainly chagned over time. As you said it feels a bit much to me, and taht's not an insult. It's almost TOO nice if that even makes sense. The screens int eh corners just make it not really feel like a college footabll stadium. But nobody can deny that it isn't nice as hell. All just personal preference.

I haven't been there for a Bama game since 2013, but a lot of LSU fans came home this year saying that the atmosphere was electric, much better than in years past.

I also consider Jordan-Hare to have a great atmosphere.

Take it for what it's worth.

I'll bet you'd love Tiger Stadium in BR.

Look, anytime you wish to return play at the neutral location of Legion Field, I can guarantee the oldest, most primitive college environment you can play in.

I generally agree with you. However, the tech and aesthetics upgrades they’ve made over the last several years have also upgraded the atmosphere.

From a start to finish standpoint, I haven’t been to any stadium in the country that is as consistently loud and energetic as what we get in Tuscaloosa for games that finish after dark. The stadium design itself limits the noise factor (seats are too far away from the field), but the environment itself is better than it’s ever been, IMO.

That’s not a statement you would have ever heard me make just a few years ago. Things have changed for the better.

The LSU & Tennessee games were the best I’ve ever seen in that stadium.

Say you have never been to a game at Jordan's Hair stadium without saying you have never been to a game there, weird auburn guy.

Largest screen known to mankind

auburn has a screen that stands 43 stories tall that requires all residents of both auburn and Opelika to have their electricity turned off on games days to power it.

It was heralded all over Georgia about how it was going to be the largest screen ever, in the history of the world, in the history of football, ever.

When it is turned on, it can actually suck nearby cows into its vortex.

I always thought it was hard to see the boards during a day game. I’m sure that’s a problem everywhere though. Also it feels like the seating in BDS is further away from the field than in most stadiums. Maybe that’s just me. One thing about BDS though is you will not find another stadium anywhere that takes a better overhead picture. BDS is a beautiful stadium when it is photographed from the air.

Don't like the LED lights at all.

Liked BDS when it was a 60K seat bowl.

I understand the "arms" race and the stadium is very comfortable with all the bells and whistles but I guess I'm just old fashioned and liked it when BDS was a replica of Notre Dame stadium. Another is Bama keeps "renovating" right after they renovate meanwhile ceiling tiles are falling from the piece of shite known as Coleman Coliseum.

Atmosphere wise, we 1000% overdue the music and theatrics in between downs. Part of it is because most of the shite our band plays sucks

I actually like the LED and the stuff we do in timeouts. My biggest issue is that it becomes sensory overload when it’s after essentially every play

As an aside, I’d rather wipe my arse with a pinecone than hear the elephant blare that we play 20 times a game

Was there on 11/4. Led lights and the sound system were first rate. The guy who comes out during timeouts to get the crowd involved felt like NBA game. Only thing that made it feel like a college game was all the crimson and white pom poms.
Tiger Stadium’s sound system sucks, which is ok with me because I can hear the bands.

How did you like the light show extravaganza in Jordan Hare for the Ole Miss game? There were tons of lights flashing everywhere and pumped in music.

Yeah, JHS is a great example.

I'd like to know the ages of the folks who hate Bama's stadium experience and the ages of those who love it...

I would argue that Saban wants exactly what you sense. He wants an NFL type stadium and continues to try to keep up with what NFL stadiums do. Especially during down times when TV commercials are taking place.

I dunno, atmosphere this year for big games has been awesome.

There was a spoiled factor for a few years, along with games being over before they started, but Texas, Tennessee and LSU has been awesome atmospheres. A ton of fun. Loud, packed, engaged. As fun a season at home as I've had in the stadium since 2014 or 2015.

As for the stadium itself, the main parts of it are nice enough but they aren't in the same realm as Jerry World or the Falcons stadium. They've done solid upkeep and it's an aesthetically pleasing stadium from the outside, but the lower bowl and upper decks for general seating are just nice and solid, nothing fancy.

The biggest issue in terms of noise and atmosphere it has is that the seats on the sides are so far back from the field itself. There's nothing they can do about that, so it kind of is what it is.

I don’t like it. The stands are too far away from the field and the seats fade away from the field. Not the best to hold in noise.

Coleman is awful too.

As far as atmosphere..I think Bama fans have gotten spoiled by success and this season where not every game is guaranteed has kinda humbled some of our fans. The atmosphere was sadly better under Shula than it was under Saban. But this year it was definitely better

Do they still have the chain link fence in the stadium? Yes, it's been a while since I've been to BDS.
