With the recent discussion of Clemson stealing signals against LSU in 2019. I kind of suspect they did it to Bama in the 2018 National Championship.

I’m not saying they weren’t a really talented team. The dline was really good.

But that 2018 Bama team was a juggernaut all season. I remember being mind blown how Clemson just annihilated them. Specifically I remember a QB run late in the game on a 4th down that really put the game away.

Clemson was on the play like they called it themselves. They 100% knew that play was coming.

How do you Bama folks feel about it? I hate Clemson more than Bama so I’m on your side with this one.

What did that have to do with Clemson skullfricking Alabama, 44-16?

At least Alabama got the revenge they talked about all offseason in 2019...

Oh, shite, wait.

Is there a problem with stealing signals? I thought it was only an issue if you were effectively "spying" to get the signals, like the Patriots sending camera men to practices for their opponents or Michigan doing the same at their opponents games earlier in the season.

If it's there on the game film teams exchange before they play, you'd be a fool not to use it if you notice.

I wouldn't be surprised. If there is any viable evidence to suggest that they have done it in the past, I think it would be safe to draw the conclusion that they did it to Bama in 2018. However, I err on the side of Saban's philosophy a bit: it doesn't matter if they know what we are going to do because we just execute better than them.

Sure it may give them the competitive advantage, but what happened, happened. We have plenty of other championships to enjoy

They won that game because they made us drive the field and then shut the door on our RPO game inside the red-zone.

We had 4 drives of 221 total yards that ended inside the 25 that netted us a grand total of 3 total points.

- 45 yard drive to 7 yard line, FG
- 51 yard drive to 22 yard line, ToD
- 59 yard drive to 14 yard line, ToD
- 66 yard drive to 2 yard line, ToD

They had the dudes on defense to do that in a confined space. And their offense just whipped our defenses' arse.

Nah, that was a good ole fashioned, old testament style arse kicking the likes of which I've never seen before... and I saw every Shula coached game.

Doubtful stealing signals had anything to do with that abomination of a game and if it did, it doesn't excuse how shitty we played.

Locksley was leaving for Maryland and didn’t give a damn, Venables beat his arse and took all the signs he wanted.

Not sure it helped that Locksley and Gattis both had one foot out the door.

If you have a 15 million dollar coaching staff that does absolutely nothing but coach (no one has to cut the grass at home, pick up the sick kid from daycare, run an errand, etc.), umpteen analysts and support staff, and a virtually unlimited budget, you should have signals that are like the frickin' Navajo code talkers.

Even if they did, they probably figured them out during the game and not in advance.

Hard for me to believe sign stealing is what lost that game for Bama though because that was just a pitiful performance (and I want to say Saban's most lopsided loss at Alabama).
