I hate to see this thread go, I’ll probably read it the whole way through before next year.
Goat Hoops Thread, IMHO

I kinda think it's hilarious you come here, because it's the most active basketball board on the rant. But we'll be in the recruiting thread, since it's the off-season. I know I'll be. I can only handle so much of the FOGgy Mountain Breakdown on BOL.
But I can't blame them for being ignorant about basketball. If you weren't around it, you won't know the nuances between it vs football. But I've definitely had to yell at family to shut up, because they were losing their minds seeing us down by 10 with 25 minutes to play. They can't seem to understand that 8-10 points isn't getting you arse kicked.

Walter's had some good moments.
Also had many games he couldn't buy a basket.
Sadly, like most players these days, if they don't think being in the starting 5 is there, hello portal.

Yep. I am fairly confident that a big reason why Oats targets mostly older mid-major guys like Bruner, Gurley, Welch, Nelson, Estrada, Wrightsell, Mallette, and Youngblood is that they have already gotten their chance to be the man and get all the personal accolades, and now they just want to win.

Same. Think there should be a new rule that Final 4 run threads stay up all offseason, or at least until school starts in the fall.
If we’re going to use recruiting thread, we probably need to expand the name to something like “Offseason and Roster Construction.”

Has it been announced how the basketball season will be scheduled next year with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma?
Going to 20 conference games? Play less teams twice?

When there's a player from The Villages who bounces to grab a bag, there's gonna some granny sex jokes. Honestly, there should probably be some granny STD jokes too. But I'm in too good of a mood to go that dark.

Not sure how old they are, but in the Anthony Grant era it kind of was. We had no chance of coming back from down 10 with our slow play and horrible offense. This past year’s team could erase 10 in less than 2 minutes…just 4 10 second possessions on offense

Maturity and chemistry can overcome a talent differential in college basketball. Though the chemistry part is harder to achieve, since it's impossible to keep a recruit for more than a year or two. That's the only real disheartening thing to see with the Griffen and Walters. You just can't develop a player anymore. We've all heard that, and even knew it. But to finally see it, with guys you hoped to see reach their college potential, is a bitch.
But you can't get upset about it. Because the portal giveth...

Based on the article about the analytics guy and his methods, I doubt that is a factor - but it probably should be.

Last offseason I had the thread titled "Tide Hoops | Offseason" and people complained about that too. Can't keep anybody happy.

Disappointed with Walters, wanted to see him develop at Bama
I have to wonder if Oats realized he is just not athletic enough to defend at the level he wants and encouraged this move. I loved his three point shooting but it might be hard to keep him on the floor for extended minutes.

And we've known this for a couple years now. But it's really hits home this year. Can't keep our heads in the sand any longer.
