I'm mid-90's. You remind me of my friends that actually went to school in Austin.
yep.. i’m closer to mid than 2000.. and back then, the game was everything.. I agree
we all went to high school together.. some went to Austin.. some went to CS.. but it wasn’t all that different
nowadays.. my kids couldn’t get in to Texas.. and I brainwashed them against A&M early on lol so they didn’t want to go there (dispute my attempt to say that wasn’t about the school) so they all went OOS
I have a lot of Texas friends with kids now at A&M, Oklahoma, TCU, Baylor, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Alabama, and just a few at Texas.. it’s a crazy world we live in

They are your in-state rival.

Preach it brother! It really hasn't been the same since the Big 12 came into existence. I remember when Oklahoma and Nebraska were the alphas in the Big 8 and their annual showdown was up there with tOSU-Michigan, DSOR, the Iron Bowl et.al. Now the Big 8 is gone, as is the SWC, the Big East, and soon the PAC 12. I was never a fan of bringing in Missouri and aTm. And adding Texas and OU will be the final nail in the coffin of what was the greatest ever conference.

Give LSU Florida, Bana MS State and Ole Miss Vandy in year one to preserve those games and play chicken until ESPN caves
I’m down with whatever to be honest. It’s all better than the shitburger we have now.
Some of the West schools may not like that arrangement though.

I swear to Christ if it’s A&M
I would guess in a one permanent rivalry situation it would be LSU/A&M
USC/Kentucky
UGA/UF
UT/Vandy
Auburn/Bama
Ole Miss/MS State
LSU/Aggy
Arkansas/Mizzou
UT/OU

I was never a fan of adding Arkie and USCe either, but that gave us the SEC championship game, so there is that.

Who knows?
Remember when "the SEC created pods"...& SOMEHOW OMITTED their OLDEST rivalry in the conference?
That still seems suspiciously "odd".

The funny thing is when we play once every few years they will still call it dsor. Hard to maintain a rivalry when you barely play.
Being in JHS or Athens for dsor is fricking amazing

do we know who is voting against the 3/6?
Wasn't the press writing who voted how back during the meetings?

there is no turning back now..
but we could have had it perfect
PAC 10
Big 8
SWC
SEC
ACC
Big 10
Big East
+ 1 Wildcard
4 Major Bowl Games
Rose
Big 10 vs PAC 10
Cotton
SWC vs Big 8
Sugar
SEC vs X
Orange
Big East vs ACC
then seed the 4 winners for a semifinals and finals.. the fans would have loved that..

He will miss preparing for Georgia like he will miss preparing for a colonoscopy.

the 3/6 works just about perfect..
the only thing better imo is with 20 teams
and a 10 game schedule
4 divisions of 5
SWC
SEC W
SEC E
ACC
Play your division (4)
play another division (5)
play one perm (1)
^ that is perfection
While I agree that pods & 10 games helps (& prevents the "1 extra home game" issue), Georgia (GT) & Kent. (Louisville) would only have 1 slot to play ANYBODY.

Bastards. Don’t you DARE get rid of DSOR and TSIO.

Too many great games going away. It is going to screw SEC up. Texas A&M probably losing historic rivalry with Arky ??
Posted on 10/2/23 at 4:52 pm to ColoradoElkHerd
A&M's rivalry with Arkansas isn't that historic. Now Texas? The piggies absolutely loathe them.

Hince why rivaries should OVERRIDE the 4 year cycle.
I had that plan I posted about 4X4 pods keeping ALL annual rivalries & cycled H/H through everybody in 6 years...as opposed to the "pick 3 & cycle through the rest in 4 years" path.

The issue is people complain about BIGGER conferences & wish they were smaller. However, they DON'T want MORE conferences.
