Texas A&M is an afterthought outside of a few very specific programs/degrees.
WSJ doesn't seem to think so.

3 games into the season A&M is posting academic stats. Pack it up. It’s fricking over.

Texas, Michigan, North Carolina, Virginia, UCLA/Berkeley are the major "Public Ivy" schools.

Things change...A&M has greatly raised its profile in last 10 years...UT is a great school, but its whacky admission standard is hurting it. As a result, it is admitting kids that are less qualified than kids that don't get accepted...many of those kids are choosing A&M...

What kind of hack job doesn’t rank Rice first in TX?
It depends on what factors make up the rating dumbass.

did they factor in that y’all are a bunch of fricking weirdos?

They have no choice in this matter though
Their aging and dated facilities for research and study cannot be easily replaced and they cannot expand their university campus. They have become a commuter school, comparable to University of Houston.

You know DEI is one of their main factors in rankings, right?

My father taught me to never let emotions get in the way of good business. Not every program at Texas A&M is better than the corresponding program at UT Austin.
However, the bs about Texas A&M being an overall inferior school because of a 10% vs 6% requirement is totally false.

Very few of them are.

UTrans definitely has a superior Alternative Genders Degree program

My kids are Aggies. UT >>aTm academically and it’s not up for debate.
I’m curious about this. Can you elaborate?
Apparently the WSJ has adjusted their methodology to focus on outcomes and salaries more than reputation/ prestige.

Who said it was just about academics. The rating includes academics but also covers a lot of other factors as part of the rating.
Must be some homosexual type of metrics in their ratings then.

I'm going to assume that if we compare like for like colleges/degrees - Business School, STEM, etc. UT is probably ahead - again I'm just guessing.
So maybe UT score has been diluted by all the non-business and non-STEM degrees they offer that result in a much lower ROI.
Because salary outcomes seems to be the big disconnect between the scores of the two schools.

Daughter at ATM, have hired and worked with many Aggies and 'Horns over the decades, in addition to being a 2x Texas ex myself. Wife also went to both. My take:
ATM is the better undergrad school and experience.
UT is the better research institution. More elite profs, more $$. Poster above stating UT facilities are old/landlocked is uninformed. There is a very large R&D center owned by the school in N Austin, and the university has done well in updating on-campus buildings and building new ones.
When I was there, about half the UT student pop was in grad school or professional (law, grad accounting, etc) schools.
FYI to both UT and ATM - AU and bammer alums/fans chuckle daily at your supposed rivalry. You look more like snippy siblings to those of us who understand real hate and contempt.

UTex could be ahead in specific majors - I don’t have the numbers. But by what margin? It’s obviously not enough to move the needle in their methodology.
The size of the student body at both schools is large and comparable… so the logical takeaway is that there is a higher percentage of A&M students graduating with better salaries.

This explanation makes sense - UTex is better regarded for the graduate schools.

The Greenes' list, that nearly quadrupled the number of schools?
Anyone can arbitrarily make a list and add a bunch of schools to it. Might as well do it to the list of college football blue bloods. Clemson can be on it. Won't make it true, but they'll be on the "revised list."
