Kick Six sent Auburn to the SEC Championship then the BCS Championship. The Play had no major implications whatsoever.

I’ll go with the play

Way too much shite has to go perfect for those plays to succeed

I think they're both awesome for what they were. The Play with its zaniness and the band being on the field and the Kick Six for its pressure and unexpectedness.

Kick Six vs The Play

Given the stakes, the nickname, how unique of a play, that Saban argued his way to the 1 second and that it followed the prayer, heavy lean to the Kick Six.

Pretty sure "the play" never would have stood had there been instant replay back then. That one player's knee looks down before he pitches the ball back.

I watched most of that game from Tightwad Hill until they opened the gates in the last two minutes. The only reason Cal won is because Stanford coach Paul Wiggin left .02 seconds on the clock after kicking what they thought was a game-winning field goal. Huge coaching blunder. The loss also cost Stanford a bowl bid and was Elway’s last game at Stanford.

Even as a kid I thought the play was unremarkable

No serious person thinks the play is more interesting than Kick Six from a CFB perspective

Arguably it's funnier and has more going on to watch, but it's inferior in every way that matters.

Both were dramatic, and unbelievable moments, BUT, there were 2 or 3 times where The Play could have been stopped but the guy being tackled miraculously tossed the ball to another Cal player to keep the play going.

Add in the band, and it was a better moment, but only slightly.

EAsily the Kick 6. The Play was filled with forward laterals and knees touching the ground and no offical blowing the whistle. If instant replay were around then, the Play would have been called back and the game would be over.

Kick 6 was fricking amazing, not only for the play itself, but for the entire 4th quarter that led up to it. Back to back 4th down stops, blocked FGs, 99 yard Td pass, CBS giving bama a second when the clock ran out....then it happened. Pure Karma. Bama tries to steal the game with their bs 1 second and it came back to bite them. fricking glorious

Plus it was a top 4 matchup, bama going for three peat, Auburn recovering from a 3 win season going worst to first.

Kick 6 was the perfect play that represents college football.

Kick Six

I feel like kick six and the prayer at Jordan-Hare are somehow tied together, even if they’re separate plays. I can’t imagine being an Auburn fan in November 2013.

ETA - as much as I hate hearing it - Bramblett also had a lot to do with the Kick 6 experience. An amazing call that nailed the moment.

I still think "the play" the week prior against UGA was better.

The Cal kick return. A LOT has to go into that. The Kick 6 was basically Bama being lazy. Dude ran down one sideline.

Kick Six.. The Play was some unranked pac 12 middlers and a liberal beta band.

Who has the greatest college football play ever

When you have a game played over a century ago that is still talked about today, my guess is this would be up there for "the greatest". A historic Yankee team played at home against a lowly and dismissed team from the South. A single play altered college football forever. I was not alive at the time but knew many of the players later in life. In a game well fought but thought to end in a tie at best (the Yankee team was HEAVILY favored) but the Southern back announced it was time to score and went roughly 1/3 of the field to score on the next play. At least 3 Yankee defenders rose up to stop him but were discarded like dishrags. While the "Iron Men" may be the greatest team ever to play college football, this humble Southern school in a single play redefined football in the South.

It was called the greatest upset of the century by a historic paper this century. I am pretty sure it was in the Top 5 or 10 of all time by ESPN in the history of college football. When the 75th anniversary rolled around the Southern team offered to play a rematch on the Yankee's home field. The Yankee's declined.
