More incrementalism from our neighbors up north. Not as bad as the authoritarian UK, but working on it.

The Battle of Ia Drang in November 1965. The 1st Cav lost about 250 men in 4 days. They were surrounded and many of the U.S. wounded were shot and killed while in their stretchers while waiting to be evacuated. It was the result of over-aggressive patrolling and a huge tactical blunder. The NVA used a one of their soldiers to lure them into the trap.

NYC would definitely be targeted if Iran was able to launch nukes. It is the financial capital of the world and has the largest Jewish population in the Western Hemisphere.

I read in the Seattle Times this morning that Seattle will increase property taxes to fund $400 million in renovations for the Seattle Public Libraries.
Look at all the billionaires who have left, or who are about to leave California because of the taxes: Charles Schwab, Larry Ellison, Steven Spielberg, Mark Zuckerberg and that Sergei guy who cofounded Google. Can’t say that I blame them. Stay tuned.

As a Seattle native I’m surprised at the high rating for happiness. It’s a very passive-aggressive city and the locals tend to be introverted, which suits me well because I’m an introvert. I’m suspicious of strangers who are over friendly. At least it’s not full of a-holes like Boston, NYC and Philly. Seattle also has a dark, creepy vibe. I love it.

The Ivies, Stanford, Duke, Notre Dame and the Military Academies all have a strong presence on Wall Street. It’s called networking. They hire their by own.

Ted Bundy and the Green River Killer Gary Ridgeway. My home state of Washington produces a lot of serial killers.

DeBoer’s biggest mistake was leaving the UDub for the Bama job. There are two CFB jobs that are coach killers, Alabama and Notre Dame. Whatever you accomplish, it’s never enough.

UCLA is adjacent to Beverly Hills, Bel-Air and Brentwood, upscale as it gets. Years ago, an Asian female student was shot and killed by a stray bullet in a gang shootout in Westwood Village. It made the national news. Her family was devastated.

I would go to Berkeley at least once a week when I lived in Oakland, this included Cal football games and also eating at the various establishments on Telegraph at least once a week. I’ve been on the Berkeley campus at least 1,000 times over a 27-year period.
The real danger is the south of campus area nearby, including People’s Park. There were lots of muggings and strong-arm robberies at night in that area. I’m not sure if the area adjacent to UC was included in the data, but the Berkeley campus didn’t seem to be particularly dangerous.

About 20 years after graduating college(Central Washington, a NAIA school), I took the SAT from a publication that I got from the library. I scored exactly 960; 720 verbal and 240 math.

When I moved to Oakland in the 70s, one of the first things I noticed was all the empty Old English 800 cans on the sidewalks adjacent to the liquor stores. I decided to give it a try and couldn’t finish a16oz can. Nasty stuff. Don’t miss Oaktown.

You don’t want to be the oldest guy in the club. That became apparent to me when I was in my early 40s, even though I could have passed as someone in their early 30s due to good genes.

I read the London Times Mirror and U.K. Sun on a regular basis. Earlier this week, a 12-year-old. English boy was stabbed to death by a migrant in Birmingham. With the higher birth rate among the Muslim newcomers, it’s only going to get worse.
