LSU's Brian Kelly: "Is the gap closing (w/Georgia)? We'll only have that opportunity if we get into the championship game vs. Georgia. I know based on how we've recruited we'll have a football roster that will be able to compete against Georgia. Is that right now? No it's not."

There certainly isn't a gap between Georgia and Alabama and Kelly just beat Alabama with a less talented roster than you have this year.

Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher wouldn't answer if OC Bobby Petrino will call plays: "I'm not going to get into that. Bobby was hired for a reason. Tremendous guy. Tremendous football mind. Hopefully he'll call the game & have suggestions."

He hopes Bobby will call the game but won't answer if he will call plays. This sounds like a very confused man. Unless Bobby is also working for Learfield on the side and doing the play by play for Aggie radio and then offering suggestions on commercial breaks.

I’m not sure what you’re even trying to say.

Bobby is the play caller. Has been confirmed in every interview. He doesn’t have to keep saying to to appease trolls.

He said he doesn't have a roster than can compete with UGA right now. That's what he said. I'm not reading between the lines.

Alabama certainly has a similar roster as Georgia. He beat (competed with) Alabama last year. It ain't hard, baw.

The Kelly quote makes sense to me. He's saying maybe, but they aren't on the schedule so we'll see if we can make it through our season. Most coaches don't like questions about other teams. "How do you stack up against Alabama?" kind of questions. I think Kelly gave a fair answer.

Sounds to me like he’s selling LSU can beat UGA to recruits/fan while also trying to keep the pressure on UGA this season.

Depth across the lines...that is what caught up to us by the end of the year...we have more depth this year, but still going to take another recruiting class to get it where he wants it...

We cannot compete against Georgia. They are too good.
It is however an honor to to play in this damn strong conference and hopefully we'll make it back to the Outback Bowl.
Don't worry about us.
Nothing to see here.

LMAO. Your coach said it and you act like I'm saying it. LSU is one of the three teams in the SEC (maybe four) that could win it all this year. I've never said anything different than that.

BK has said multiple times that we wanted a team made of high school players that he developed. He inherited a program with only 39 scholarship players and filled in the rest with transfer portal kids. In his opinion that is a big red flag for a program. He sees LSU as at least another year away from the roster that he wants. Sure, LSU overachieved last year but he’s looking for consistency and he believes that comes from players he develops

Exactly, no....I'm backing up BK....We can't even beat Texas A&M......3rd in the West at Best...Georgia vs Alabama in Atlanta.....should be a fantastic game
...pump the breaks on the LSU Tiger Boyz

Thanks. This makes the most sense of any response to this and lines up with what he said. Certainly the best response in the thread by a wide margin.

In year two after getting run over by a 4 ton raging bull you don't go poking that bull asking for another fight until you're ready.

Either he doesn't think this team is ready or he doesn't want to talk shite and get left holding the bag.

Even if y'all are breaking in a new QB, Georgia is built like bama right now where a QB isn't going to win or lose games for them.

Close but no cigar.

Kirby said the same type of stuff shortly after he was hired.

It tells recruits that he needs them. He needs them now. If they come to LSU, they will start over the players he has now.

It is a recruiting pitch. And a darned good one.

It is how you stack talent with a new program.

I see where you're coming from, but we did mop the floor with them in the SECCG. I mean we hang 35 on them in the first half. So, I think we flexed the talent muscle in that game. They were already reeling from the Aggie beatdown and I think some of these posters are right in saying the lack of depth was starting to catch up with them.

Bama was a missed FG from being in the SECCG.

Bama is still among the elite programs, and LSU beating them in one game doesn't change that.

They need to figure out the qb position and they will be fine. They had the best qb last year and lost some games but I think they have a better roster besides qb than last year. Depth wise

I would have preferred that he choose some other language to say what he said. He also said a week or two ago that we do not have the roster to win a natty this year...

Maybe he is trying to motivate the team or something but I dont agree with that.

To win a championship it takes a lot of things and some of those things are catching your competition at a bad time. One of the greatest advantages in NCAA and the SEC football is a returning QB. Most of our stiffest opponents are going through a QB change. So even if he does not have the roster he wants he has the chance to make it work.
