That rivalry should’ve been continued too. I’d rather get them than Vanderbilt.
This is a really good rivalry that probably was on the verge of returning to old heights with Kelly and Freeze.

They could’ve swapped A&M with lsu to keep it going. Quite strange.

It’s lucky for Auburn but a shame for college football fans nationally.

I’m going to miss playing you shite heads.
LSU Auburn in the 2000s was THE series in the SEC. So many memories.

Since 1992, Auburn has been LSU’s most balanced rival. We had some really epic games won by both sides.

The AU/LSU game has been fantastic from '88 onwards but let's not forget that expansion in '92 made the rivalry possible.
LSU and AU played only 8 times over a nearly 50 year period from 1943 to 1991.
There was no rivalry until divisional play (and one magical earthquake game) made it into one.
Perhaps this expansion will lead to some new fun matchups. Add a 9th game in and we'll see Auburn every other year.
Something has to give when you add more teams. Auburn and Florida were historic rivals. That rivalry was initial preserved despite expansion in '92 but eventually got scrapped when we slimmed from two permanent cross division opponents down to 1.
That 9th game with no divisions would allow Auburn to play Florida or LSU every year, right?

How do we not get Florida??? We’re supposed to play them in 2012 and that got taken away. Now we were supposed to play them in 2024 and that got taken away too. Why do they hate this matchup?!?

I’m good without it every year. Y’all don’t really care bout us and we don’t care about y’all

agree lsu and aubbie fans both will be missing out. Was a hell of a series

Agree 100%, those games are always really close and always good no matter the record. Hopefully we can get that game back when we go to 9 conference games

One of the more exciting series of the modern sec. Will be really weird to not play auburn every year.

It’s just one year . We will still play y’all on rotation or randomly . However they decide starting 2025 even if we do the one permanent format

No LSU and no State.
Auburn-MSU has 95 all-time meetings, including every season since 1955.
Auburn-LSU has been an extremely entertaining rivalry since the early ‘90s. Since 1992 expansion, it ranks as the conferences’ #6 annual rivalry based on combined team winning percentage (behind UGA-UF, AL-LSU, UF-LSU, AL-AU, and UGA-AU)…. Which means Auburn-LSU is the biggest recent rivalry to get cancelled.
Considering AU-Tennessee was the costliest SEC rivalry lost with ‘92 expansion… AU-Florida was the costliest SEC rivalry lost with the new format of 2004… it’s only fitting Auburn-LSU is the most costly rivalry to go by the wayside of 2024 expansion.

The first LSU game I remember attending as a kid was the 2001 Auburn game. I’ll never forget the Auburn kicker practicing FGs during halftime and the band shoving him out of the way.
By far the most underrated rivalry in the SEC. Hating Alabama is the only thing agreed upon in the Tiger Bowl.

Auburn-LSU in the Saban/Miles vs. Tuberville years was awesome. Big hits, close games, great defense, top ten teams, I seem to remember a kicker fighting the band?
