Alabama, as the state school, has more fans than Auburn. Alabama is state full of redneck trash. Redneck trash are front runners. Ergo, Alabama has significantly more redneck trash fans than Auburn.
The engineers, agriculture professionals, etc that land grant universities like Auburn, UGA, & UF churn out tend to be normal folks.
Alabama on the other hand attracts the Harvey Updyke types who are willing to vandalize, rape and kill for a university they never even bothered to consider attending. Sad.
