per @BrettKollman
quote:

The field is basically a lake right now and the indoor facility is apparently not long enough for a 40 so they have to do it out here.

So I guess just be advised that whatever 40 times you see coming out of this pro day are not exactly in advantageous conditions.

Do they not even have an indoor track facility to do the 40?

Kind of amazing such a "blue blood" doesn't have a full-sized indoor football facility

How is the indoor facility "not long enough" for a forty-yard sprint? What is it? A regular old building or something?

Google shows this is what they have, similar to what UGA worked with before building theirs

Damn. That's pathetic. I bet even Mizzou has better than that.

Yeesh. Even with the corners cut off in Nutter they can run a full pro day in our indoor facility (getting upgraded to a football exclusive facility in the next couple years).

That's pretty damn sad considering its Southern California.

Very rarely does weather cause an issue in LA. And that real estate is way too crowded and expensive to build one where the campus is located.

That campus is so cramped, and there's nowhere to expand

Mizzou now has some of the best football training facilities in the country. Currently building a new indoor practice field as well.

Who doesn’t have an indoor facility with at least 1 full field? I thought we’d all done this through MAD when the bigtime money started coming in…

A&M doesn't have an indoor facility either.

We tore ours down and are now in the middle of building this.

My high school's indoor practice facility puts this to shame.

What's going on at Sofi? Why couldn't they just go there?

There's two big problems

1. There's no space to put in indoor facility. The campus is small (300 square acres), urban, and already basically full. They could have bubble over the practice field for spring football when rain is more likely, but this year is an anomaly.

2. Building costs. USC's current facility cost $70M in 2012 and was outdated the minute it opened. Just renovating the Coliseum cost over $300M.

That sucks. 300 square miles is tiny. For comparison, A&M is 5500.

A&M is building a new indoor facility, renovating current facilities, adding a new academic and wellness center for athletes, & a new indoor track center for around 200 M.
