Hiring a 66 year old who has flirted with retiring for a long time and has only ever coached in Utah and Idaho is definitely risky, but the best option of the coaches out there at the moment by a good amount.
As we've seen over the last couple weeks, Notre Dame are a bunch of entitled toddlers who think the world revolves around them. This is just another example.

There was an agreement to play Week Zero and ND said no.
USC will have a top 5 SOS without ND this year while ND will be playing a AAC schedule.

ND refused to play in September, which was the only viable date in the modern landscape, and then ran a media campaign around it to paint themselves as the victim.
